Deletion of the trans skater thread

MNHQ.

I understand why you felt you had to take the thread down given the way the OP reacted but it was a shame. There were a lot of useful comments discussing a topic that is important for women. I am a bit concerned that an OP can shut down the discussion of these topics by having a huge rant so the thread gets deleted.

I can see that MNHQ have to protect the site and site users. However, it is incredibly frustrating that the only person misbehaving on the thread was the OP.

I was in the middle of reading it and it just disappeared. It had some really thought provoking comments and was, in general, a well mannered and well reasoned thread.

What was the reasoning behind taking it down please?

That was a very manipulative OP.
The thread was extremely educational and valuable because it was on AIBU.
It is very sad that the moderator fell for it and was manipulated into pulling the thread.

There was a deletion message. It was 'goady' apparently. Well the OP was, and it looks like quite intentionally to kill the thread. No one else was.

Pretty disgusted it was taken down by MNHQ. It contained very clear and concise arguments (not from the OP obv).

How frustrating
A thread full of well reasoned arguments and thoughtful discussion.
I saw that MNHQ had deleted the OPs 'joke' about people with restricted growth...was it not possible to just delete individual posts?

I think that deleting the thread was a wrong decision by @MNHQ
Maybe it could have been closed to any further comment, especially by the op!
I don't think that the op started the thread with the best of intentions and they did turn out to be very abusive and goading in their transphobia.
There were so many extraordinarily helpful links to those people that have o idea about the trans debate. And for those that want to learn more
I do understand the pressure that MNHQ must be under from all the TRA's and MRA's that are watching Mumsnet, the home where transphobes go to organise their meet ups. As was said on that thread
I would really like MNHQ to realise that they are being played. This whole conversation will be deleted because it's a TAAT

Hopefully someone more experienced at MNHQ will review the situation.

As this is in Site Stuff the TAAT rule hopefully doesn’t apply as we are raising concerns about how MNHQ handled the thread rather than rehashing the content of the original thread.

I can understand to a degree why MNHQ deleted the thread even though the thread itself was perfectly reasonable and informative but the OP's behaviour over the last few pages was unhinged and not a good look for MN as a whole. If the thread was picked up by other sources it would only be the posts from the OP in the last few pages that would be aired and they would be used as a stick to beat MN with.

But @RedDogsBeg they could just have deleted the OP's posts. The point that people here are making is about the quality of the rest of the debate, plus the links that were shared. That wouldn't reflect badly on MN.

Surprised to see this as I read the thread earlier and found it very refreshing the almost 100% unanimous pro female responses, all very well reasoned and respectful. Obviously not going the way the OP intended but I managed to miss any actual drama - what happened?
