Password issues/Email Change

Hello,

I'm trying to change my email address and needed to enter my current password to do so. When I first registered I used a google account and so tried this password, but it's not being accepted. So I tried others it might be in case, but none of those worked. Then I wondered if we are allocated a password automatically (you know, those random letter/number combinations) that we change, and perhaps I hadn't received that email so requested a password reset. When I click the link in the email it just takes me to the Mumsnet homepage and if I go on settings through it, I have the same problem as I need my current password to change to a new one.

Is it not recognising my google password? Or is have I missed something obvious - that would be like me! Sometimes I can be a bit dim with this sort of stuff, so apologies if I am being!

I came on to post the same thing! I have received the password reset e-mail a few times as requested, but every time I click the link it just takes me to the homepage. Help!!

Thanks for getting in touch. Is it possible you're logged in while you're trying to reset your password? That's what usually causes this problem.

Hi, I got logged out after the data breach issue but logged in again under my usual user name. However, yesterday I got logged out unexpectedly (found this when I tried to post in the usual way) and when I tried to log in again was told my email address was not recognised and that I appeared to be a new user. However when I tried to register as a new user with that address, I was told it was already registered! So I had to create a new email address and a new username. What’s going on?
