Deleted PMs

To MNHQ: For the past couple of months all PMs that I have sent to another MN member have been deleted automatically from their inbox every time I have deleted them from my Sent items box. And now, this is also happening when I delete PMs that they send me - i.e. they are also being deleted automatically from their Sent items box. I haven't a clue why this is happening (I've checked my settings and for possible glitches etc) but naturally the other party feels very aggrieved that decisions which they should be taking - about what to delete and what to keep - have now been removed from them.

Please can you investigate and resolve if possible?

(Will also be interested to know if others have experienced this)

Many thanks.

Hi everywhichway,

Going to be really honest and say that we're not too sure what's going on here - sorry.

We've asked our tech team for some guidance. Really hope to have some answers for you soon.

To MNHQ: Hi. Further to my post yesterday I've now started getting the same problems as the person I've been exchanging PMs with. This morning, my Inbox notified me (in these exact words) that "This message has been deleted at user request". This is what my MN friend has been seeing in their Inbox (and now their Sent items box) each I've deleted a PM at my end. I've not changed my Settings in any way.

It's also taking both of us many times longer than it ever used to to send or open PMs to and from each other. Again, I don't know why.

To MNHQ: ...just a quick follow-up to the above. PMs that I've sent are now being deleted from my Sent Items box when the person I've sent them to deletes them from their Inbox.

Is there a message upon removal? If so, could you let us know what it says? Or does your inbox just appear without the username/message at all?

If the message arrives in my Inbox I will get to read it (and see the username) if the sender hasn't already deleted from their Sent items box at their end. But they might have deleted it before I had a chance to read it. In either case though, when they delete it at their end I will get the following message in my inbox: "This message has been deleted at user request" and their PM to me will have gone.

My MN friend tells me that they are now seeing PMs disappear from their Sent items box when I delete them from my Inbox. When this happens they get the same message as the one I've mentioned above.

Hi @MNHQ! I have attached a couple of screenshots to illustrate the problem. The first is of my Sent box which is now filled with deletion msgs but these weren't deleted by myself. The second is of the msg I get on going to delete. There is a checkbox that appears - not sure if this is anything to do with it?

Essentially any PMs I have received that are subsequently deleted by the sender (in this case every) are then deleted from my inbox (same msg as the sent box screenshot but can see the sender's username) and any I have sent that get deleted also go from my sent box. This also now happens in reverse, so if I delete the recipient gets the deletion msg in their inbox or sent items. Essentially it means nothing can be saved if the other party chooses to delete.

I have also today, I am assuming by coincidence, lost the power to batch delete. The delete button is greyed out if I try to select multiple messages on the desktop site, so have to go into an individual msg to delete it.

It's all very frustrating and would be great if the functionality can be returned back to normal if poss. Thank you Smile

Hi MNHQ: Just wondered if your technical folk had managed to come up with a way of resolving this problem yet?
