Intrusive ads

I'm now getting ads on MN with no X for me to tell it fuck off.

Any help? Like from MN?

I’ve seen posts about these adverts before. The ones with sound! Mumsnet say they don’t have adverts with sound but they are everywhere! And so annoying. I’m on the mobile site using an iPhone.

We have replicated the ads you see but for us, the ad has no sound. It is ok for the video in the ad to autoplay but the sound must be off.

Can you confirm that you are not clicking on it- as this activates the sound?

I have blocked the advertiser, however, if it comes up again or similar, are you able to video it from another phone as this will really help? but I know this might not be possible-any additional info can really help us.

@ echt- can you let me know which ads don't have the blue cross on them?

That bloody great Disney Orlando one has no X and it takes up a lot of the screen. If I had planned to go there I would cancel it, so annoying.

Vauxhall one has no X, just the arrow. Although not so bad as it is smaller.

Pretty Little Thing, hideous pink moving ad. no X and it seems to be on every other page in one form or another.

Bohea Teas, no X

I could list these all day.

Can't get rid of Monks Investment Trust either, without going into AdChoices and a whole lot of paraphernalia.

I am seriously considering putting my ad blocker back on and I didn't want to do that.

We'll make sure Tech takes another pass at this one to find out what's going on.

Also a pain in the bum is Vauxhall which has no X and Weighwatchers which I can't get rid of.

That bloody Monks one is back again, and no way to click on it and say 'I have seen this too many times' like you do elsewhere.It has been following me all day along with the hideous pink one mentioned above.

I don't drink but am very tempted right now.

Just now, another one of the pink Pretty Things at the top of the page, can't turn it off, my poor eyes!!

So many of the banner ones won't turn off, is that intentional?

And just one more because the continual flashing is disturbing my already problematic vision. Another with no X. I will either have to stop using MN or reinstate an adblocker, mainly for this one and the hideous pink flashing ones, but this BooHoo thing is horrendous for my eyes, wonder if it is as bad for epileptic people.

We will look into this and why they do not have ad choices icon on some of the ads.

I’m still seeing the Easter chocolate gifts ad by the purple company.
The makeup ad Benefits also doesn’t have an x, very few do. The fact yours have x MNHQ, Guves me ideas for all sorts of conspiracy theory plots...........

Google's ad does have an X so it's not just a total website problem

Side ad of John Lewis, non stop scrolling buggies for days now, am sick of buggies and no way to stop it moving or close it. It's a big ad too.

Thanks for all your feedback about not liking the advertising you are seeing on site at the moment. We can completely understand that not all brands who advertise with us are going to be relevant to every user but we do try our best to ensure they are as relevant as possible - apologies if we do not get it as spot on as we'd like.

Unfortunately, not all ads come with the adchoices icon and include the X, but we do try our best to put controls in place to limit these and we also block any ads that are causing a nuisance. We always make sure that all the ads we run are in line with the better ads standard.

Your feedback goes a long way in helping us improve the situation so do please continue to post any concerns or queries you may have.

Just found this thread on Google while trying to turn off that annoying video on the MN pages. I had it stopped and have not changed any settings but it just won't go. Neither will it stay 'stopped', every new thread brings it back on the page, moving again. PLEASE provide a way to stop it. AARRGGGHHHHH!!
