Hours when MN read moderation reports?

Reported some very nasty posts last night and a bit shocked they’re still up. Wondering what hours MN actually looks at reports- is it only office hours?

You can report to Nightwatch here

I was on that thread too, reporting. I've recently said elsewhere in site stuff that it's time MN employed more moderators. The business is now turning a good profit and is too big and well known to continue to expect customers to manage and protect their brand for them.

Didn’t know about the night watch, I was just hitting the report button. Don’t know what I think about needing insider intel to report a nasty troll harassing a rape victim..,

Bit surprised they don’t have moderators, lots of other sites do.

Hi OP.
If a large number of people report a problem post during the night, then it alerts the NightWatch, but if its only a couple of reports, it doesn't trigger an automatic alert.

You can also post on the NightWatch topic, as Sparkling said.

What was the thread? I can take a look now if you want Smile

It would be good if you flagged the existence of nightwatch somewhere. It feels a bit insidery to have to know about it.

Mint Agreed.

Hi Mintkat, thanks for your feedback on this.

We're really sorry we weren't able to get to this thread as quickly as we would have liked. We know those posts were especially nasty and very upsetting to many MNers, not least the OP, who we've been in touch with off the boards.

Our moderators are on duty seven days a week until pretty late at night, and we have a really great volunteer nightwatch team, who have the ability to hide problem threads until MNHQ can take a look. A thread like this one which generates a lot of reports will usually trigger an automatic mail to the nightwatchers - we'll double check this is working correctly.

At the moment the busiest times are during the day so it makes sense to direct our resources there, but we'd certainly give overnight moderation more thought if that looked to be changing. Flowers

So, if I'm on a thread like the one we're discussing, I need to hit 'report' on each individual one by that user to flag it up? Think there were about 5 from the same idiot on that thread.
I'm not being goady by asking this, just trying to understand.

Weezol · 23/04/2018 11:18

I appreciate you've had a hell of a week @MNHQ, but do you have any update to give on this thread?

HebeMumsnet · 23/04/2018 11:54

Hi there Weezol. So sorry - we missed your last post on that thread.

In answer to your question, no, no need to report each individual post. If you report on just one post but put in the comment box when you report that they're posting all over the thread (or all over the site in some cases) we can pick up all their posts at our end and delete them.

Thank you.
