Deleted for calling someone out on gender stereotyping

Feenie · 06/04/2018 11:16

Absolutely appalled. I called a poster out for posting the worst kind of gender stereotyping bollocks (possibly exact words) and was deleted.

Wtaf?

I didn't contravene any guidelines, unless we 're adding swearing now. I merely said that the post was 'a load of gender stereotyping bollocks'. Which it was. That was it. Which guidelines does that contravene? I'm very happy to be deleted if required, but come on!

Oh i saw that post and rolled my eyes as it all applied to my daughter. Glad you called them out on it. Another eye roller i see is "Girls are bitches."

Feenie · 06/04/2018 20:44

The poster posts mainly on the primary board.

How is calling something bollocks too much/an attack/aggressive etc? It’s just not.

There’s no consistency in the moderation

WorraLiberty · 06/04/2018 21:04

Since when do MNHQ tell posters who reported their post? I thought that was confidential?

Or did the person say on the thread that they were reporting you Feenie?

Feenie · 06/04/2018 21:36

Nope.

I have commented on the said thread, but I did get exactly what Feenie meant. Not attacking the actual poster, but appalled by the gender stereo typing comment by the poster. I was quite shocked to see Feenie's post being deleted, while other poster's comment stand. I was offended by the post, as a mother of a boy.

GreenEyedGoose · 06/04/2018 21:43

I'm getting a bit annoyed by 'not in the spirit' bollocks myself.

I agree Dippy the moderation is not consistent.

So what is the 'spirit of mumsnet' ? As before, still struggling how a poster challenging 'boys do'.. saying this is stereoyping bollocks Is aggressive, yet 'you are a cunt' stands.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/04/2018 22:16

What is the spirit? Can we have a clear ruling on that, please, MNHQ, so we all know where we stand?

In this case, are we saying that gender stereotyping is in the spirit of MN, but challenging it isn’t? Have I understood that correctly? Because that’s what I glean from this thread.

shakeyourcaboose · 06/04/2018 22:17

@smeaton horrified by your aggressive use of balderdash inspired by an episode of Hey Duggee l think you should use 'blueberries' as in 'oh blue berries l have smashed my head on that shelf' much less threatening Grin

DancingLedge · 06/04/2018 22:19

I guess it's hard to be absolutely sure without the whole context of the thread.

Post a link?

" What a load of gender stereotyping bollocks". ... that seems almost a splendid embodiment of the MN spirit.

ForgetMeNotCat · 06/04/2018 22:24

It's on primary ed about comprehension/11+

yawning801 · 06/04/2018 22:26

The fact that your challenging of gender stereotypes was deleted is, to be honest, a load of nonsensical bollocks.

Am I going to be deleted for that now? We shall see...

"not in the spirit of MN" = excuse used by mumsnetHQ for haphazard moderation decisions.

DancingLedge · 06/04/2018 22:32

Okay, re- read thread, thanks.

Now this is making even less sense, MNHQ, because that exact phrase is repeated in a later post, without deletion.

TERFragetteCity · 06/04/2018 22:34

I got deleted for saying men cannot change into women, women cannot change into men and if that upsets people, then so be it...life is indeed about dealing with upset.

yawning801 · 06/04/2018 22:35

Smeaton You crack me up so pomegranating much! Grin

DancingLedge · 06/04/2018 22:35

Oh, and it is gender stereotyping bollocks. That kind of dash through the reading of a text is not done by lots of boys, and is done by lots of girls. So, yeah, bollocks. As gender( or do we mean sexGrin) stereotyping always is.

CoteDAzur · 06/04/2018 22:37

"so fruit off, fruiter."
