Why is Goady Fuckery still so prevalent on MumsNet

Anyone that has been here a while knows the —rules— guidelines. It seems that posters can still blatantly start TAATs and post goady shite and get away with it.

What’s the point of having guidelines if certain posters can disregard them anyway?

OP posts:
soupforbrains · 10/11/2017 13:01

I'm not sure I agree. I always see thread after thread after thread being deleted.

CoteDAzur · 10/11/2017 13:15

You go, OP. Hear hear.

DressedCrab · 10/11/2017 13:30

TAAT.

MyDobbygotgivenasock · 10/11/2017 13:37

Well HQ doesn't actually monitor the boards so if you see something that violates the guidelines then you need to report it, if it bothers you. If you've done that and HQ haven't done anything, either deleted it or commented on it to explain why they're leaving it then there's a case to answer. If it's not reported though, they aren't 'letting' anyone get away with anything, they just don't know about it.

Notreallyarsed · 10/11/2017 13:57

MNHQ can only respond to reports, they probably deal with thousands in a day which is why it seems to take a while before anything is done.

Sunrisesand · 10/11/2017 13:58

What is TAAT?

soupforbrains · 10/11/2017 14:00

sunrise it stands for Thread About Another Thread. It's frowned upon because it leads to too many threads about the same thing, repetition, and also because it's rather like talking about someone behind their back and so is just rude and not the sort of thing Mumsnet want to encourage.

Sunrisesand · 10/11/2017 14:02

Ahhh ok thank you @soupforbrains

paxillin · 10/11/2017 14:08

I'm campaigning for a GoadyFucker topic. Threads go there on nomination by a minimum number of posters, just like classics. OP will not be consulted about this. An alternative Hall of Fame.

CoteDAzur · 10/11/2017 14:10

I second paxillin for the GF topic.

soupforbrains · 10/11/2017 14:11

Can I ask for clarification on what constitutes GF behaviour.

There will need to be a clearly defined definition if you're going to get this idea off the ground and I'm not sure I'd know how to define it.

paxillin · 10/11/2017 14:14

Yes, there'd need to be a consultation on GFery, soupforbrains. But if more than half of the responses allude to it, it probably passes.

soupforbrains · 10/11/2017 14:21

No I mean now. Can we create a general definition on what constitutes GFery. I'm not sure I understand where the line is between Trolling/GFery/and sheer stupidity/rudeness is.

paxillin · 10/11/2017 14:31

Posters who deliberately post unpleasant, racist, sexist, disablist, in order to provoke others. Often accompanied by fake wide-eyed innocence and obtuse claims.

Example: "I don't think a golliwog is racist. Surely it cannot belong to any human race, being made of felt?"

soupforbrains · 10/11/2017 14:47

ah, I see. ok. I'm on board.

Notreallyarsed · 10/11/2017 15:06

I’m definitely on board, especially with regards to this:
*

There’s too much of it and it’s not on.

Notreallyarsed · 10/11/2017 15:06

Ugh bold fail!

PandorasXbox · 11/11/2017 08:41

It’s quite funny how your ironic thread never took off and got the frothy responses you were so desperate for.

CoteDAzur · 11/11/2017 08:46

Pandora - What was the point of your post, if not Goading?

PandorasXbox · 11/11/2017 08:53

Nice try Cote.

CoteDAzur · 11/11/2017 08:57

And your answer is?

PandorasXbox · 11/11/2017 09:08

Why shouldn’t I post? Do you think Womblingthree wasn’t goading by starting this thread then?

SumThucker · 11/11/2017 14:16

You practically filled your own thread Pandora, that's why yours 'took off'. You're like a kid desperate for the last word.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 11/11/2017 14:19

This is site stuff, not AIBU. Frothing not required.

Threads on whether a particular posting behaviour is seen as problematic by users (and MNHQ, given the topic) plus ways of dealing with it (if it is widely seen as a problem) is entirely appropriate.

I think trolls, including goady fuckers and perves, are a problem. And the number of deletions the morning shows it's not one that's going away.

Sucksfake1 · 11/11/2017 14:37

Agree.

You can't argue with batshit
