Hello there!

We would like to cordially invite you all to join us this coming Sunday, June 18, for a Great Get Together - in memory of the late Jo Cox MP, and in support of her family's organisation, More In Common, which aims to get us all to celebrate the things that unite us.

So whether you're reasonable or unreasonable, whether you have or have not Googled penguin bollards, and whether or not you think the OP should have cashed the cheque, we'd love to see you all here on Sunday around midday.

There will be PRIZES, chatting and amusing gifs (courtesy of AliceDMumsnet's 'solid gold gifs' folder). Please bring your best children's jokes, pictures of any kittens who have recently adopted you, and heartwarming stories of love and friendship across the divide (Netmums).

BYO booze. Folk dancing will not be tolerated in the shallow end.

(If you'd rather go to an event near you and meet other people face-to-face, check out the Great Get Together's listings of thousands of events across the UK here.)

Love
MNHQ

Grin Iona

That's your MI6 application blown!

AdaColeman · 18/06/2017 19:43

Just pop some music on TTM and the boogying will get going again.

fruitbats · 18/06/2017 19:44

My hangover has gone Grin

IonaMumsnet · 18/06/2017 19:51

I knew you'd get a second wind, Fruitbats.

fruitbats · 18/06/2017 19:55

Yep, I have loved the party.
Have I won the award for best dancing?

PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2017 19:59

Evening all, I'm a bit late to the party but here I am with beer, pistachios and vape Smile Can I tempt anybody with a wafer-thin pork pie?

I just went round to my neighbour's who we don't get on with to settle a dispute which could easily have ended in court. We still think they're slithy toves but we settled things amicably and reasonably. How's that for getting together? If everyone just talked to their neighbours I reckon half the threads on MN would disappear Grin

So for neighbours in dispute everywhere, here's by the Bonzos.

And as my contribution to the feelgood soundtrack by Empire Of The Sun.

Cheers everyone!

I went to Castle Acre at Orford for my first ever Guide Camp in about 1993 ish. Very castley castle indeed. I only really remember that there were fabulous thunderstorms: one hit our flagpole and cracked it clean in half.

Right, we've got all these part-drunk bottles of wine. Who wants a glass of Pinot?

IonaMumsnet · 18/06/2017 20:14

Blimey, MrsHathaway. Bet that was more exposure to the natural world's wonders than you were hoping for! Is there a knot for that eventuality?.. Go on then. I'll have a cheeky pinot.

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 20:15

yup, me please, thanking you kindly Smile

bookbook · 18/06/2017 20:16

welll, MrsH , I was going to put the kettle on, but if you are twisting my arm ......:)

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 20:22

Shame to waste the dregs though bookbook and think of all the spillages in the boot of whoever is doing the recycling run tomorrow Shock

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 18/06/2017 20:22

as the supplies are running low and all the kinder are packed off to bed (ha!) the Sweary Thread come to your rescue. Rest of MN meet TC-he's our naked butler and resident mixologist. Those hoses are the pipelines to our never ending supplies of every beverage known to humanity. (Don't titter)
You're welcome.🍸🍻🍸🍷☕️
In chez Fuckery we is getting down to a bit of MIA. . yeah, we're down with the youth.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 20:24

Hey you bunch of old lushes...you're still upright! Grin

Finally escaped and am back, in my spangly disco gear.

Anyone up for a sing-song?

bookbook · 18/06/2017 20:28

we may need more than one boot Sassy Grin

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 20:32

Welcome back Autumnal! Er...who you calling a lush?

Hmmm I think you could be right bookbook. Do we need a MNHQ task list for the morning? Wink

MrsHathaway · 18/06/2017 20:45

all the kinder are packed off to bed (ha!)

Chance'd be a fine thing. DH is casting YouTube videos of tidying up songs on to our big telly. DC (ages 3 to 8) are naked on the sofa post garden play singing along and not tidying up.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 20:49

Ooh, and forgot to contribute this to our stash

Ta-DAH!

Label fell off, but I'm reliably informed it's Absinthe (is that even legal now?). Hang on to your hats...

Gazelda · 18/06/2017 20:51

Why didn't anyone tell me this was happening today?! I went to a steam fair instead (searches fruitlessly for a steam engine-y emoji).

I'd have done my gin and tonic cake. And my pimms cake. And my tomato ketchup cake.

Are there any pics? Was there a piñata?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 20:52

Mrs H,

Admittedly, am rather easily confused, but are the tidying-up songs for your kids or us MNers?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 20:54

Gazelda,

Look upwards.

You go first

Roll up, roll up for the Great Mumsnet Get Together, Summer Fete, Garden Party, Disco and Barbecue
MrsHathaway · 18/06/2017 20:57

It's on fucking loud enough for the entire village to hear Angry so let's all join in!

♫ Tidying up is fun ♫

bookbook · 18/06/2017 21:03

yay! sing along ! -- tidying up is fun? Confused

I hope that Pinata breaks easily - last one we had to bash needed a hammer and a strong man !

goes to put kettle on :)

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 21:07

DD deposited into bed, so....I'll have a green swig Autumnal, oooh and a piece of the gin & tonic cake Gazelda Smile

what clearing up song?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 21:08

I'll just go and find a nice, obliging strong man, just in case his...ahem...services are required by you then, bookbook

Ooh, look: a whole team of them dismantling the Horticulture Club's marquee. I'll see who I can muster...
