why can't there be a "Trump" section? Sick of Trump threads in AIBU

Just this really. Why are Trump threads being allowed in AIBU? Needs a board for people who are obsessed with this "topic" or should be in politics/news?

AIBU is not exactly over run with Trump threads though - there is only one within the first few pages of the topic, and it's very clear from the title what it's about so easy enough to avoid. Just don't click on it if you're that bored!

squishysquirmy · 20/02/2017 13:11

And most threads on AIBU could be posted elsewhere on the site - weddings, relationships, cars, style and beauty, education, etc. It's quite a miscellaneous topic.

SilenceIsBroken · 20/02/2017 13:19

There is one Trump thread.

And ditto to what pp said. I think all those "aibu to ask how often do you wash your towels /sheets/pj's" should go in housekeeping but I just ignore them.

PuntCuffin · 20/02/2017 13:25

Just hide them then.

LornaMumsnet · 20/02/2017 15:31

Hi TeaCake5

Thanks so much for flagging.

We're always open to new ideas and so, as always, if there is a demand then we'll be sure to look into it.

Close your eyes to issues and hide them if it doesn't affect you.

If you want to discuss parking issues rather than the rise and influence of the far right in the West, that's your choice.

I know which one is more important.

amispartacus · 21/02/2017 09:54

Of course some people on the internet have an agenda to try and hide discussions so people don't engage and aren't informed.

Just saying

VintagePerfumista · 21/02/2017 09:55

Here's a thing- it's not obligatory to open every thread y'know.

I'd sooner engage with people who want to talk about Trump than people who want to talk about pushchairs and toileting habits of 18mth olds any day personally. So I don't open the others, I use that there arrow button that lets me go past...

amispartacus · 21/02/2017 09:59

TBF - there wouldn't be so many Trump threads IF he hadn't been so controversial in his first month.

So many things to discuss.

TeaCake5 · 21/02/2017 10:04

ODFOD seeing everything as some huge conspiracy. Oooo have you signed a petition about trumps visit? Moaned about it on an echo chamber of mn? Brave and life changing for you no doubt.

OP posts:
amispartacus · 21/02/2017 10:13

Brave and life changing for you no doubt

If you aren't affected by the rise and influence of the far right, then you have nothing to fear.

Some of us are affected and worried. HTH. Feel free to engage in a Trump thread if you want. They are open to all people. Just be prepared to use actual facts and evidence. Not FOX news

amispartacus · 21/02/2017 10:15

But your last comment reveals the real nature of this site stuff post.

TeaCake5 · 21/02/2017 10:18

I don't give a shit what you post just use the relevant section ffs.

OP posts:
amispartacus · 21/02/2017 10:21

Does it bother you that people are discussing Trump and the rise of the far right on MN?

Why does it bother you so much?

Spudlet · 21/02/2017 10:23

Make AIBU great again! By keeping it to probably made up p&c parking bun fights. As God intended. Wink

Ooooor you could just read the p&c threads and not the Trump ones. Just a bought!

elQuintoConyo · 21/02/2017 10:25

Donald, is that you??

TeaCake5 · 21/02/2017 10:27

Whats the point of having sections if no one is guided by them? So people with diy questions should post them in the sen section then?

OP posts:
RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 21/02/2017 12:43

Agree that there is no need for a trump section

Getting a bit fed up with some people insisting that threads need to go in the right sections

Aibu and chat would cease to exist

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 21/02/2017 12:43

And they are pretty much the only ones i look on Smile

elQuintoConyo · 21/02/2017 14:21

There could be a World's Leaders section with a subsection for 'special cunts' Grin

SoupDragon · 21/02/2017 14:24

There is no need for a Trump topic, they should just be in
Politics.

I've only ever seen one at s time anyway, just click Hide and your problem is solved.

TeaCake5 · 21/02/2017 15:02

soup - that is what I am saying - why aren't they moved to politics?

OP posts:
RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 21/02/2017 15:06

For the same reason that

Aibu re parking, mil, children, feminism etc

threads aren't moved i would imagine

SilenceIsBroken · 21/02/2017 15:13

Why is it Trump threads you're objecting to specifically? As I already mentioned, there are loads of popular house keeping questions, far more than Trump. Why not ask for them to be moved?

AuntieStella · 21/02/2017 15:21

When I rule MN, there will be a regular 'use the topic' day (or week, even) where all spurious AIBUs (and all other misplaced threads) will be moved.
