There's an account that exists just to bump threads

The messages are mainly 'just bumping for you' (that's almost all they ever post and the NN is similar.

What's that likely to be about?

Tabloid journalist?
Sockpuppet?
Eccentric?

It's a little bit creepy.

Maybe it's just a kind poster who is a semi lurker?

grin

Manumission · 12/11/2016 23:43
Grin

Would a lurker JUST bump? Confused

I just don't get it. It's not even a consistently DM-suitable range of threads (or maybe it is). It's bugging me.

I've see this too and for no logical reason thought it was Mumsnet HQ bumping posts where the op sounded like they needed help. You have now got me wondering though.
Maybe there's a king/queen of the internet somewhere leaping to the aid of the downtrodden and ignored?

Manumission · 12/11/2016 23:48

Hmm. Like a caped poster? Smile

Maybe wick was semi-confessing Smile

''Tis not I! Honest!
PM them, go on..... want to know now. Grin

MistresssIggi · 13/11/2016 16:56

They have a bump-fetish.
(And I am not being bump-fetish-phobic before anyone says anything)

DoItTooJulia · 13/11/2016 16:59

Isn't there a bump and reset function somewhere? Or sommat like that. On Threads I'm Watching? Or have I lost the plot?

StillaChocoholic · 13/11/2016 17:00

Sometimes people go through unanswered threads and bump them or answer as many as possible, maybe it's something like that.

Hmm I just tried the bump and reset button on this thread. Don't think it did much...

BIWI · 13/11/2016 17:03

Who is it?

TheSpottedZebra · 13/11/2016 17:05

No they post sometimes. I saw them post yesterday. I think it's someone just trying to be nice.

EssentialHummus · 13/11/2016 17:10

I think she's called JustBumping.

insancerre · 13/11/2016 17:13

cos people are just weird

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/11/2016 18:24

Aww, is it the return of PuzzleRocks?

I think whoever it is is just trying to be helpful and bumping threads so that people get at least some answers. There are loads of unanswered messages ... seems sad somehow Sad.

I think it says a lot that you've all jumped to calling troll. I don't post much but even I've seen the "there's X amount of unanswered threads, let's help them" threads.
They're just trying to help people get answers.

MrsLettuce · 13/11/2016 20:23

yy PuzzleRocks always at it and same message. I thought it was sweet. People didn't seem quite so put out about that though Confused

I'm not put out if it's benign.

Just a bit weirded out when I noticed it and ASed the NN. And twitchy from the Daily Mail shenanigans

JustAnotherSadOldNumber · 14/11/2016 08:18

It might be a bot ad not a real person.

I've suspected for some time that some of the trolls who post barely readable sentences asking for advice about subjects are in fact chat bots.

JustAnotherSadOldNumber · 14/11/2016 08:18

and*

WicksEnd · 14/11/2016 08:19

Where have we All called troll? That's an odd statement to make.

Manumission · 14/11/2016 11:09

What's the purpose of a chatbot?

OP posts:
AnchorDownDeepBreath · 14/11/2016 11:12

Yeah MN has a bot problem at the moment. Most seem rather poorly designed so I'm guessing it's coursework for someone or something similar.
