Offensive nicknames

I'm going to be flamed, I know!

I get that people just want to avoid being quoted in the Mail but - sigh - do we really have to have so many names with fuck, cunt, twat in them?

I'm not anti swearing but I've just had it drummed into me that these words are offensive. I don't mind, for instance, 'DP was 4 hours late and I am so fucked off, AIBU to rhink he's a twat?' I wouldn't personally but you know, free speech and all.

But that's very different to just having them there. I've just replied to another poster who's username is nothing but swear words and three of the sort generally considered to be most offensive.

I don't know; I just don't like it - does anyone feel the same as me? Or am I being cats-bum-mouthed?

What a shame you had to spoil the good natured tone of this thread, Lass.

MN is a sanctum of swears, a corner of cuntiness, a veritable field of fuckery, no?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 12/06/2016 15:42

Wasn't me who first mentioned the "ooh I'm mad I am " reaction. AF

If you are going to fish for compliments you shouldn't be surprised if your bait isn't always taken. I don't like the sweary names. I don't think think it's big and clever.

WellErrr · 12/06/2016 16:00

I don't think being a sanctimonious prick is big or clever either Lass but we all must live and let live.

FuckingFattyBitch · 12/06/2016 16:15

but there's one these days with the F word and bitch. I find it horrible.
I take it you mean me. There's a whole history behind my name. I cannot be arsed going into it as it would out me.

I don't understand why people are that bothered by NNs.

I find the names with fat or similiar in them to be worse.
Shock obviously I'm the worst of the worst then!
There's a whole history behind the fatty in my name too. Grin

AnyFucker · 12/06/2016 16:22

Lass, you sound a bit exercised by this. Using a perfectly friendly thread to have a mild dig at another individual isn't good form. If I didn't know better I would think you had a touch of the green eyed monster.

SanityClause · 12/06/2016 16:24

I don't so much mind the sweary names, but I am not keen on the royal family (the concept of them - the actual people may be lovely), or the word "nude" applied to any kind of apparel that is a pinky, grey colour, not in the slightest like the skin tone of a huge proportion of the world's population.

So, a name based on Kate Middleton's "nude" shoes is more unsettling to me than CuntyMcArseFace, but I just have to live with that, or possibly just not read mumsnet. Shock

Natsku · 12/06/2016 16:26

I like the sweary nicknames, far too many forums don't allow swearing so mumsnet is a pleasant relief.

FuckingFattyBitch · 12/06/2016 16:30

I like your name natsku simply because every time I see it, it reminds me of an anime character with a similar name. Grin

Piemernator · 12/06/2016 16:30

I actually don't care but what I find amusing is that some users probably do it to feel naughty. It's twee swearing isn't it, real swearing is a brawl in a Weatherspoons because someone didn't like the way you looked at them funny over their cheap curry and a pint deal. I frequent Weatherspoons btw before someone gets their knickers twisted over that.

dizzyfucker · 12/06/2016 18:46

Twee swearing Grin

It's whatever you want it to be. If someone looks at my nn and thinks "try hard" or she must be one of those "I'm mad, me" people then that's their opinion. I'm certainly not going to change my nn over it.
Just like judging people with nn like mumoftwoboys or bensmamma to be totally sweet and absorbed mummy's, when they probably just picked a nn based on the mum aspect of their life, given that this is mums net and all.

Nn are just identifiers, no need to psychoanalyse or get over invested in them.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 12/06/2016 18:54

I'm mad me. LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Notbigandnotclever · 12/06/2016 19:02

Fantastic I was looking for inspiration. Cheers fuckwits

Notbigandnotclever · 12/06/2016 19:05

Seriously I don't notice most names now I just scan over. I expect uber swears on here. It's part of the culture.

Natsku · 12/06/2016 19:49

Thanks FuckingFattyBitch Maybe I should add a swear word on the end of it though so I can fit in

FuckingFattyBitch · 12/06/2016 20:01

Fitting in is overrated. Just be you Wink Grin

Natsku · 12/06/2016 20:07

flibbidygibbet · 12/06/2016 20:09

I am not prepared to modify my language just in case a kid comes across mumsnet.

My whole life is modified by being almost constantly with kids. This is my bastarding outlet and I will swear with fucking aplomb

flibbidygibbet · 12/06/2016 20:11

Actually I find the word 'nude' applied to wishy washy pinky cream quite offensive.

Ain't the colour I am nude.

rainbowstardrops · 12/06/2016 20:38

I really can't find the energy to get worked up over any nickname if I'm honest.

People probably think my name is twattish but I imagine most don't even look at it.

Seems daft to me

I've never thought to care about the sweary NN, many of the ones with mummy, mama or mumma in them are too twee for words though.

Someone's fairly recently changed their NN to PaulDacresMicroPenis, and I really don't like that. Not because it insults Paul Dacre, he should be insulted as much as possible, but because it's insulting to men with micro penises, many of whom I'm sure are decent human beings and can't help their anatomy.

ExitPursuedByBear · 12/06/2016 21:23

Who is Paul Dacre?

And yes I have heard of Google.
