Why does mumsnet.com suddenly want to use my device's location?

It has never asked before but it is suddenly very insistent.

Yes I had this too. It's never done it before. It always makes me suss when a website does this although I'm sure there's an innocent-ish explanation!

Mine is doing that every time i click on a thread! Don't want to click yes to get rid of it because it's so unexpected and I don't like to just click things I can't identify/understand

I'm seeing more posts from Mumsnet Local recently so I'm wondering if it's linked to that.

Yes, every time I go to a new page. I am just clicking the cross, I don't want to say yes in case it's dodgy, don't want to say no in case it stops the site working

Mine suddenly started offering me local threads based on where I was, which Id prefer not - will go on Local Board if I want to. Then stopped doing that and this morning is asking for my location. I've said no!

Wouldn't it be good if it had a "YES" button and a "ODFO" button .

As it stands, I'm pressing NOT.

There should be a WHY DO YOU WANT TO KNOW? button.

Yes, why do they want to know (irrelevant question, really as most sites can do this through the use of cookies)

^ same here. As far as I can see, it's identical to the one that normally pops up on iPhones.

I clicked yes in the hope that mnhq were about to parachute in commando style for a cup of tea. So far, no luck!

Yes, it looked like when any app wants to know your location. I accidentally clicked yes - brain is slower than thumb today.

It's stopped. Was just a box saying MN wants to use your location. Then an option to allow or block. Generic Android pop up.

Yes, I was getting it on my iphone too, generic Iphone message which you get with a lot of websites. Was doing it about an hour ago and then stopped.
