I think that is where it came from. Many many years go the MNHQ posts weren't coloured so you couldn't tell who was real (even more years ago it just used their names with no mention of MN at all!).

Later, after their posts were coloured and use of the word "Mumsnet" was banned from nicknames, there was another thread where we used similar things to Mumsnet. I have several names from that era too - bumsnet, Netmums, murnsnet... Happy days!
