In advance of the release of The Angry Birds Movie we thought it would be fun to let Angry Birds loose over the topic for the next four days. We very much hope you enjoy them but if you don't, not to worry; they'll be fluttering off in a few days.

What is it about Sea World? Please don't start advertising for Thomas Cook again, it was only this year that the judge said how awful and uncooperative they were about the whole process which undoubtedly added to the suffering of the parents.

MissDuke · 10/05/2016 19:12

inlovewithhubby clearly you haven't saw the ads I referred to before then, where they literally open up right across the screen and you have to search for the 'x' to close it in order to continue reading the thread Angry Of course this is subtle in comparison Grin

IHaveDefectedToTeamDog · 10/05/2016 19:27

I have always been so pleased/ surprised at how UNadverty MN is. I've always found their adverts to be very unobtrusive.
I've had several years of help/ advice/ entertainment here for free!
No complaints here.
I like Angry Birds anyway.Angry Bird

inlovewithhubby · 10/05/2016 19:34

I agree the ads have always seemed unobtrusive to me on here. Until now. I'm a regular but not prolific user, but I've never seen anything like this 'sponsored by' type of brand endorsement on mumsnet before. Perhaps I've just been lucky.

IHaveDefectedToTeamDog · 10/05/2016 19:39

Yes, this "sponsored by" aspect is new, in love that is true, but its still fairly unobtrusive. Just an extra bit of text/ image.
I'm dreading the day we have to watch a short video before being allowed to click on the next thread!

Unicow · 10/05/2016 19:49

I'm using the talk app. Angry BirdAngry BirdAngry Bird s the only angry bird I can see.

monkeywithacowface · 10/05/2016 19:50

Oh I remember the Thomas Cook sponsored thread that went south very quickly. It was posted within days of my that judgement. Lots of people not happy.

Seaworld? Watch blackfish

IHaveDefectedToTeamDog · 10/05/2016 20:06

Ah, couldn't you just briefly tell us, monkey, please? Smile

TiggyD · 10/05/2016 20:07

At least it's not an evil company that makes shit chocolate.

I'm not convinced that all the birds used in the game/film would have been humanely looked after.
Not sure about the pigs either, but fuck 'em, the egg stealing bastards!

IHaveDefectedToTeamDog · 10/05/2016 20:07

About SeaWorld, I mean.

Rowgtfc72 · 10/05/2016 20:33

Wondered why I was seeingAngry Bird !

BigChocFrenzy · 10/05/2016 21:09

I definitely prefer ads to paying < tight >

I like the angry bird and all the newer emoticons, especially of course the Chocolate.
Oh, you can never have too much ChocolateChocolateChocolateChocolate
and I'm of course Halo

I'm on the App with my iPad Air 2, but I just checked with Safari and the ad looks ok for me, not like Fru's screenshot:

When angry birds was first released (the game) I used to spend hours playing it. There's always an angle slingshot game popular with every generation. There used to be a tank game in the 90's using the same idea.

Anyway, the trailer looks funny. I think ds will want to watch it for sure. Alice through the looking glass is being released around the same time and I'm more excited about that.

MyMurphy · 10/05/2016 21:26

Personally think that formula milk should be allowed to advertise. There are plenty of babies that wouldn't be here otherwise!

donotgoogledragonbutter · 10/05/2016 21:31

Angry Bird just trying it out Grin

leccybill · 10/05/2016 21:31

Felt a swell of pride at that boycott list - glad to support Mumsnet's moral stance...but another one here wondering how Cadbury (Kraft) slipped through. Immoral company who reneged on their promise and decimated the good name of Cadbury. The advertising deal must be worth ££££££££££££££££.

leccybill · 10/05/2016 21:35

myMurphy I see your point and I myself exclusively bottlefed from the start - definitely the best thing for my family - but I am still outraged that they actually 'invented' follow-on milk (even the name is stupid) to get around the ban on advertising infant formula. I'm clued up enough to not buy into this bollocks but I know many folk who think follow-on milk is an absolute necessity.

I actually can't wait to see the new Angry Birds film Blush, DS can't too. But I think I'm more excited than he is--- oh the shame BlushBlushBlush

MyMurphy · 10/05/2016 21:53

Leccybill, I agree xxx

toffeeboffin · 10/05/2016 21:53

Mes, not keen on the birds.

poocatcherchampion · 10/05/2016 21:59

SeaWorld - keep orcas in captivity for the entertainment of tourists, despite overwhelming evidence of poor welfare and orca deaths as a result.

Definitely watch Blackfish, it is eye opening.
