Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them? Grin

I had a maryz name at some point, cba to go to the changing page to check what it was though Grin

Can i add another suggestion? No one is allowed to "prove" their old-posting-ness by doing the list of random threads. It is highly irritating!!

Queenbean · 29/12/2015 17:59

Oh yeah, and can we also ban those arse kissing "who is your favourite poster" threads

TooOldForGlitter · 29/12/2015 17:59

Yes please.

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 17:59

Focus, team. Stay on message . We want a ref members no nc topic. That preferably gets deleted, that would also have my vote

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 18:01

(Af is my favourite poster of all time. Just to get that out the way)

RustyBear · 29/12/2015 18:02

Maryz- are you sure you didn't nc to zMary for the same thread where I became (briefly) BustyRare?

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 18:02

Is that what we want? [Mithers again ]

Fairenuff · 29/12/2015 18:03

Ah but some of the names that haven't been used have just been bagsied. In case of emergency. A bit like copywriting.

(Wonders who will be the first to bagsy FuckerAny) Grin

Fairenuff · 29/12/2015 18:06

BustyRare, now that's a spoonerism. A whole new level of name changing. Now I might have to be NairyFuff.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 18:06

I think Hully has it right.

Lets see if we can get the topic first and sort out the finer details later.

We'll need a well stocked bar though obviously.

It's like we already making a list of rules for our pub when we haven't got keys to the premises yet

I'm going to add no bombing or heavy petting

RustyBear · 29/12/2015 18:06

Apparently reassigning usernames is very time-consuming and tricky - they did it many years ago when they auctioned off some recycled names in aid of Mile for Maude, (which is when I secured Rusty, mainly to stop anyone else having it), but they've always resisted having another auction

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 18:09

I'm going to add no bombing or heavy petting

That's my new year ruined then...

Followed over here from the AIBU thread. A yes from me too. In fact I'd go so far as to say posters shouldn't be able to name change at all on any topic for @ 3 months after joining and possibly a limit on the number of name changes/spare names users can have.

AnyFucker · 29/12/2015 18:22

this is a top idea

Like a regulars chat. Nowt wrong with that.

Idefix · 29/12/2015 18:23

I have my doubts Worra demonstrated to me by the amount of times I write a great big spiel Hth and then go meh and start deleting. This happening more often so hoping I am a late developer and awareness is coming Grin

The other day I found myself thinking about name changing but have since given my head a good wobble.

As pp said here or on the thread that inspired this I am not ashamed of anything I have ever said, me is me always sometimes I am just a little grumpy/pmt/impatient

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 18:29

When will we hear from mnhq again? I'm desperate for our section so I too can unveil my old but new mn name Grin

DonkeyOaty · 29/12/2015 18:30

Am stupidly busy in RL atm so a balanced and cogent post from moi is implied by my barking "yes pliz".

Stratter5 · 29/12/2015 18:32

Stratters has gorn forever. Tech said it was too complicated for him or something like that :(

BathshebaDarkstone · 29/12/2015 18:32

Yes please. But do we have to name change to post in the topic? I can't get the hang of it. Xmas Blush

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 18:37

I don't know Bath

Maybe HQ will come up with a link we can click and register or something?

I'm about as techy as an Amish woman Grin

Hullo, hullo.

Not posted for a long time, this idea is fabulous enough to lure me back.

I've missed everyone .

Oh Zombie I just read TheZombieIAm in my head in a Yoda voice!

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 18:42
