Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them? Grin

I think Petty Gripes was the brainchild of Mintyy.

EduCated · 29/12/2015 17:46

Yeah but you actually checked though? Not casting nasturtiums, like.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 29/12/2015 17:46

Someone has Saga as well, I was going to try and simplify my name and it's taken. Sad

EduCated · 29/12/2015 17:46

As in, checked you can't just name change to it, rather than faffing with the password.

The more I type, the more I realise that obviously you have Blush

It wasn't me I promise

I'm up for a citizenship test.

What is the appropriate response to a parking infringement?

Is it a).... Etc etc

Queenbean · 29/12/2015 17:48

Can't they just delete all the usernames that haven't been logged in on for more than 3 years? There are so many good ones which will never again be used and I want

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 29/12/2015 17:48

I think what hurts the most is when they don't use it, but HAVE it. And you KNOW you'd use that name and give it the glory it deserves!!

MaryZed · 29/12/2015 17:49

My other names I can just type into the box, I think. This is a test.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/12/2015 17:49

Are we agreed on no emoticons, other than the 'old faithful' MN ones?

And can we have brussels sprouts on the Approved Greens list? I like sprouts.

EduCated · 29/12/2015 17:50

Have you got EmZed stashed? Just in case?

?

Fairenuff · 29/12/2015 17:52

I don't think people should be able to use old reinstated names that didn't belong to them in the first place. That could be quite confusing.

It's not as if we're going to run out of words is it.

Hullygully · 29/12/2015 17:52

Let's keep it simple: three months registered usage and no ncing

all the rest is detail. it will soon become apparent what constitutes the infra dig.

EmZed · 29/12/2015 17:52

Good idea, I have now Grin

twirlypoo · 29/12/2015 17:54

Oh I like this! I want to recognise people again

Queenbean · 29/12/2015 17:55

fairenough how about the ones which have been registered but never used?

Some should be retired and sent to the hall of (in)fame ie Xenia (disclaimer: I'm not suggesting that there is an actual hall of fame. Shuts that can of worms immediately)

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 29/12/2015 17:56

Ones that haven't been used AT ALL should be fair game, though.

Stratter5 · 29/12/2015 17:56

Yes please to new topic, please don't make it in AIBU.

I quite like the idea of invading GN, but the lack of swearing is thoroughly off putting. And I'm entranced at the though of scottishmummy being in prison. With a short sentence.

TheChippendenSpook · 29/12/2015 17:57

I wanted to be 'the spook' or 'the county spook' but couldn't have either of them.
