Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them?

I'd love a Regular Scorner topic, it would be possible to wait out the trollery and aggression that follows viral dailymailed threads. I'd love to remain paxillin on there, too. It's hard to keep track of who you are with several names.

I dereg'd after PB when someone recognised me. I commented on the first page and it must have sounded like me as they did a search on my other posts and joined the dots. I did try and get my old NN back now that time has passed but its gone for good

Why will it not work? It's not for posters who namechange for amusing but pointless reasons (as per your examples), it's for posters who namechange to be sweet and kind in their normal persona and utter bitches under a namechange as Worra has already said ^^
