More than ever I feel the need for this. Is the HQ position still the same?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2015 18:26

We could devise a drinking game around trolls and PBPs. Grin

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/12/2015 18:28

The way things have been around here lately we'd all be comatose. Grin

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 18:36

I'm not doing that after a disasterous MN Macca Bingo during the jubilee concert...

B33rTricksPott3r · 20/12/2015 18:38

I thought it was you, Saga

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/12/2015 18:44

No. No, not me. But surely the OP can see how annoying/confusing our mutual MN experiences will be from here on out if she keeps this name. And considering she's only had it for one day...ya know...I mean...?? Grin

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/12/2015 18:46

One thread, I mean.

IonaMumsnet · 20/12/2015 20:01

Hi Saga. We did look at this fairly recently and the feeling seemed to be that it wasn't universally thought to be a good thing, but what does everyone else think? We're always happy to have a discussion about it and see what the general feeling is again.

SagaNorenLanskrimMalmo · 21/12/2015 06:55

Sorry....massive apologies....this is literally the only time I have used this name...I will change immediately. Blush

Sorry, actual Saga Xmas Sad

I hope you don't hate me.

OP posts:
SagaNorenLanskrimMalmo · 21/12/2015 06:55

Thanks Iona as well.

OP posts:
Pipistrella · 21/12/2015 07:41

btw I tried 'SagaNoren' but that one had already been taken...is that one you as well?

AngieBolen · 21/12/2015 08:11

I don't think it's a good idea....

BeaufortBelle · 21/12/2015 08:19

Is it possible to be so invested that people register poster's names and remember them from thread to thread and advance search them to get more info'.. I find that more worrying than the odd twatty poster or worse still a poster who doesn't agree with the majority mnet view.

Hiding posters feels a bit like a form of bullying.

Sparklingbrook · 21/12/2015 08:21

You do remember the posters that appear and derail threads with their agendas yes if they don't NC. You don't have to be particularly 'invested'.

Not sure how hiding them is bullying them.

Pipistrella · 21/12/2015 08:26

I just want to be able to go 'right, this is going nowhere, we clearly will never have a meeting of minds so bye bye!' and stop having to think about them.

Lweji · 21/12/2015 08:33

I tend to ignore pps names.
The some I do remember sometimes I dispair of them and then agree with them on the next thread.
It would be a shame to hide them.
And it's always interesting to see what new crap the truly awful ones come up with.

BeaufortBelle · 21/12/2015 08:33

But sparkling and you're a lovely poster who I'm sure no one would ever hide, wouldn't you just avoid the thread and stop feeding them?

Sparklingbrook · 21/12/2015 08:36

That's what I try and do BB. I avoid if they are the OP and sometimes hide the thread if they appear.

I also think there are loads that would hide me if they could.

BeaufortBelle · 21/12/2015 09:22

BeaufortBelle · 21/12/2015 09:23

Oops. Don't know how that happened !

Sparklingbrook · 21/12/2015 09:25

Grin It's nice of you to say that even once BB.

CallieTorres · 21/12/2015 10:50

If someone wants to hide another poster, then what does it matter to someone else? Apart from not replying to anything that poster puts, but it doesn't affect you. If I don't want to hide posters then you hiding someone makes no difference....?

Surely it's a better idea to hide those who wind you up (on a posting name basis only not user account as you could do some digging and find out who they are)

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 21/12/2015 11:27

Apart from not replying to anything that poster puts, but it doesn't affect you. If I don't want to hide posters then you hiding someone makes no difference....?

It feels bad enough when a post is ignored now. It would be far worse when you can't simply put it down to it being missed.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 21/12/2015 11:29

This argument just goes round and round though. Nothing new is said on either side.

Sparklingbrook · 21/12/2015 14:01

Maybe not Doesnt but that sums up half of the threads ever started on MN and maybe if it comes up often enough things will change.

exLtEveDallas · 21/12/2015 14:05

Yes it's a greasemonkey script on Firefox Usual

OP (whatever your name is now!) if you PM me I'll give you the instructions. It only works on a PC though, there's nothing out there for mobile devices.
