Can we have a "ghost post" option?

It's so annoying when the OP updates, says she'll be back to update and then you get pages and pages of "marking place!", "come back op!", "ooh what's happened?" etc etc

Can we have the option that when you write a post (like a place marking one) you can tick a box which marks it as a ghost post, then it doesn't actively show without being exposed - ie "there are 8 ghost posts - show all" - so you can still read them if you want but it doesn't interfere with the op's posts, and you don't have to scroll through hundreds of place-marking to find the op's updates?

adding to the watch-list doesn't work in the same way as place marking!

Are you on the app?

If you press the 3 dots next to the post you want to bookmark.

Nope

I think you have to turn it on in customise first, then it will appear under the three dots.

QueenBean · 19/05/2015 20:49

Ah no i don't have that same option cosy

So if it already exists, why the bloody hell does no-one use it and we get all these million place marking posts?

I think people don't know about it, especially if you need to go to customise first. I wonder MNHQ if it could be made more prominent?

Perfectlypurple · 19/05/2015 20:52

It regularly comes up about bookmarking. No idea why people don't use it.

wooldonor · 19/05/2015 20:56

Exactly QueenBean, I have no idea why people don't use the bookmark option, I can only assume that they don't know it exists.

I was here when it was introduced and I think it's one of the best features of the site. Other forums I use don't have this and it is a real pain to find where you were up to. IME not all places are so tolerant of all the daft place marking posts. A way to hide them would be good.

Or they are using "Mumsnet Classic" layout which does not have the book mark option.
