Following on from discussion on another thread - could we have a Scottish section, please?

The local information is good, but it is too local to apply to the whole of Scotland, if you see what I mean.

Grin You wore them, didn't you?
frankie80 · 01/04/2015 22:23

I used to be a NM meetup organiser.

We had to wear t-shirts to identify ourselves

This is going back about 6 years though

It was a pile of p*sh, we'd meet up, then never keep in touch.

KatieScarlettreregged · 01/04/2015 22:25

T shirts! Did they have the logo and your UN on them? Or a in forum joke quote?
For some reason that makes me so happy Grin

frankie80 · 01/04/2015 22:26

Just the NM logo. I don't have the t-shirt anymore cause I'm 3 sizes bigger

Only like 1 person would ever turn up anyways

KatieScarlettreregged · 01/04/2015 22:30

I have mixed feelings about RL meet ups. On the one hand I would really like to put faces to names and talk in person, you guys are smart and funny, what's not to like?
On the other hand I talk and talk and talk when nervous and I'd be really worried about pissing everyone off with my inane chatter. I calm down... eventually... Smile
I think people who go to a meet ups are pretty brave actually.

PacificDogwood · 01/04/2015 22:30

T-shirts? Really?
Like participants of a hen party? Grin

Naw, I'm too old and non-glittery for that lark.

We just met in a pub. Bunch of vipers sitting together, knocking back gin while cackling aided identification Grin

frankie80 · 01/04/2015 22:35

I did it because I was lonely Blush

I thought it might help. It didn't. Still lonely :(

frankie80 · 01/04/2015 22:36

anyway, back to the point. Are we getting mawsnet/scotscorner or naw?

PacificDogwood · 01/04/2015 22:41

Aw, hen, I'll be your friend Smile

And yes, MNHQ, what is it then, eh?

KatieScarlettreregged · 01/04/2015 22:50

Me too Frankie as long as you never NC Wink

frankie80 · 01/04/2015 22:57

aw thank you! I do worry some people might figure out who I am in RL though!

CanToCandle · 01/04/2015 23:18

Yes please here esp with more powers being devolved over the next few years scotland soon gets to set its own rate of income tax so a mawsnet will be helpful or as we say in Ireland mamsnet

Eigg · 02/04/2015 07:14

What if you did a meet up and all these fabulous MNers were actually the mean girls from school or the annoying mum from the school gate?

SirChenjin · 02/04/2015 08:01

I'll be your friend too frankie - you sound lovely Smile

Eigg - that would be my big fear (well, one of them). I often sometimes I say stuff on MN that I wouldn't say in RL, either because it's really personal or because I'm being a bit of a stroppy dollop - I quite like the face that I don't have to show my face in public Blush

On the other hand, you're all fantastic people so it might actually be quite nice to put faces to names...

Mrsjayy · 02/04/2015 08:12

If any of you are on face book feel to add me if you want it's fine if you delete me I'm used to it Grin

Christinayangstwistedsister · 02/04/2015 08:53

Shock deleted by a nutmumser ..oh the shame, affronted for you

StayingSamVimesGirl · 02/04/2015 10:17

All but two of the MN meet ups I have been to (three, if you count the local MN one I organised, but no-one else turned up to) have been yarn related/Woolly Hug related.

There are a number of us in the Glasgow and Edinburgh area who meet up fairly regularly, for long sessions of coffee, cake and knitting/crochet - and having the passion for yarn crafts in common does break the ice.

But I have never been to a MN meet up where I haven't had a good time, and met interesting people - and I would love to meet more of y'all!

I would like to meet scottish mumsnetters , too as nothing happening on my mumsnet local at all

frankie80 · 02/04/2015 13:43

A MN meet up would be good but there are some places I can't go to due to my disability - nowhere crowded/noisy

I don't knit either so wooly hugs meetups wouldn't suit me lol

Hows about a scottish MN FB group instead? Seeing as MNHQ aren't responding to us yet Angry

Witchofthenorth · 02/04/2015 14:04

Ooooo....feel free to add and delete me on FB too Smile....I'm as addicted to FB (I know...the shame!) as I am on MN

OOAOML · 02/04/2015 14:08

But would FB not mean we were putting our real names to our MN free-speaking? Blush

Mrsjayy · 02/04/2015 15:54

Oh aye might put a dampner on things never mind

CanToCandle · 02/04/2015 16:10

Could we still all meet up and not reveal our mumsnet names

SirChenjin · 02/04/2015 16:10

Could we not set up FB accounts under our MN names? That way we can continue to pick fights with the Southerners Grin

MrsJayy can be defriended as a matter of course, obviously Grin

SirChenjin · 02/04/2015 16:11

Could we still all meet up and not reveal our mumsnet names

The simplest ideas are always the best! Smile Why don't we just do this??
