MN making safari crash?

DishwasherDogs · 17/03/2015 10:27

Every time I have been on Mn this morning it keeps crashing safari.
It doesn't do it on any other website.
I'm using an iPad.
Any ideas what's going on or how I can fix it?

I don't think updating has solved it for everybody so I'm not going to update just because of mn. It is still crashing, this thread in particular. I'm definitely using mn less because of it.

Littlefish · 23/03/2015 19:41

This is worse than ever. I've tried to open 5 threads in a row and every single bloody time it made Mumsnet crash. My iPad is 4 years old and I'm not happy about the idea of updating to IOS8. Everything I've read says it's a bad idea!

Come on MNHQ - this is getting absolutely ridiculous now.

SauvignonBlanche · 23/03/2015 21:14

It's getting worse! Angry
I've been forced to talk to my family.

Littlefish · 23/03/2015 21:16

I've had to resort to using my laptop. It's old and a bit clunky but at least it doesn't keep on pissing well crashing!

OneTwoManyLots · 23/03/2015 21:20

Listverse keeps crashing too in exactly the same way as here.

So it's not just a MN problem for me.

NoisyOyster · 23/03/2015 21:45

This is STILL HAPPENING and STILL ONLY WITH MN

sorry for shouting. Just so frustrated Angry

greatbigbushybeard · 23/03/2015 21:50

I'm glad this has come up on active conversations. I thought it was just my I pad!! Trying to view other pages on this thread has made it crash every time!! Come on mumsnet please!

NorksAreMessy · 23/03/2015 22:37

Please..make it stop, make it stop.
I am getting sadder and sadder :(

MardyBra · 23/03/2015 22:55

"This is STILL HAPPENING and STILL ONLY WITH MN"

Yep. Me too.

XLIX · 23/03/2015 22:56

< cries in relief> I thought it was my bad jou jou...like my own personal MN curse!

OneTwoManyLots · 23/03/2015 23:20

But it's clearly not just MN!

There's a couple of other sites also affected so Tech isn't going to be able to fix it as it's not them. Clearly not many sites are affected so most people are on experiencing it on here but that doesn't make it a MN problem.

I reluctantly updated IOS and mine is working fine so far (as is Listverse).

Rosa · 24/03/2015 07:25

Sorry MN giving up send me a message when its sorted !!!

SolomanDaisy · 24/03/2015 07:36

It was happening with the Guardian too, but that seems to have resolved without us doing anything. I assumed that meant the Guardian tech people had done something.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 24/03/2015 08:37

The guardian was crashing mine too, has been happening for weeks way before mumsnet started doing it. I don't know if it's linked?

TheHumanSatsuma · 24/03/2015 08:54

This is happening to me too. Using chrome on iPad.

I haven't had it happen for a week or so now. I also haven't had any trouble with the Guardian, I mainly use the app but sometimes click through to the website on Safari from emails.

I am finding it harder to load long threads now, I never used to have any problems with threads in the 800+ posts length, but now it has slowed right down and I've had to revert back to 100 posts per page. This is regardless of whether it's on Wifi or 3G.

ShamTech · 24/03/2015 10:48

Hi all. Thank you for all your feedback. It's clear from the plethora of complaints on the internet that this is a bug in Safari/webkit on iOS and not exclusively affecting MN. However, we are working on systematically isolating the element on MN pages that is triggering this bug. As soon as we have found it, I will post again here and let you know the plan. Thanks for your patience.

OwlCapone · 24/03/2015 22:15

Donnadoon · 24/03/2015 23:09

It doesn't happen when DH reads piston heads < mores the pity>
And it doesn't happen when reading the Daily Fail Blush
