Keep getting advertorials popping up

Hi MN towers.
Ive been reading a long thread on here this morning and every minute or so, when I scroll down, the page suddenly goes to an advertorial site. One was a health and well being site, the other had some ad about doctors and then weight loss ads. I'm not clicking on anything to make this happen and it seems to be getting more frequent.
I'm on my iPad, if that matters.
Anyone else having this problem?
Hope it can be stopped as it's making the site almost unusable!

This is happening on other sites too, unfortunately, not just mumsnet.

iPad safari user here too.

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2015 17:54

I'm off - it's just too annoying!
Virtually every thread I open gets redirected after a second or 2.

Good luck, MNHQ, if this is a wider issue.

SoupDragon · 09/01/2015 18:22

It's stopped for now for me.

I switched to using Puffin browser for a bit.

Screenclean · 09/01/2015 18:22

I got it on my iPad with safari.

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2015 20:03

Seems to have stopped here too, thank goodness!

VirtuallyThere · 11/01/2015 14:51

Can we have an explanation please as to what the problem was. I for one would like to know if my phone/laptop is now vulnerable to future attacks.

DawnMumsnet · 11/01/2015 17:01

Hi VirtuallyThere,

We'll ask our Tech folk to come back on the thread with an update. Watch this space. Smile

FallenAngel22 · 11/01/2015 21:55

Any update? I'm getting this in other sites too like thr poster further up.

Hi VirtuallyThere,

So, the problem was with a rogue ad within Google's advertising network which redirected everyone to some poor quality advertising. Mumsnet doesn't allow this type of advertising but sometimes these ads slip through Google's net, it has now been blocked on Mumsnet but may still be running on other websites. From what I've seen/heard you shouldn't be worried about your devices being vulnerable, this was nothing more than an annoying ad rather than anything malicious or harmful to your devices.

The only thing we'd say is that, as always, we recommend everyone to be careful about giving out mobile phone numbers, bank details or any other personal info via the internet to people you don't know.

Thanks

Thank you, Colette! ThanksBiscuitCakeWine

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/01/2015 18:21

It has started happening again - a Fit Mum advertorial this time!

DawnMumsnet · 19/01/2015 19:03

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

It has started happening again - a Fit Mum advertorial this time!

Oh no, not again!

Are you still on iPad/Safari?

o0 · 19/01/2015 20:30

Me too!

Using ipad/safari.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/01/2015 21:56

Yep - still on iPad and Safari.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. Sad

RowanMumsnet · 21/01/2015 10:40

Thanks for flagging - we'll ask Colette and her team to try to track it down

SoupDragon · 21/01/2015 10:43

It has not been happening to me at all since the original problem (ipad, Safari)

RowanMumsnet · 21/01/2015 10:54

If anyone gets this (or any other annoying pop-up ad), could you please screen grab it and upload it here - it really helps the ad team to track them down. Ta.

(You'll probably get it now you've said that, SoupDragon)
