What fresh hell is this?

Thank you so much. I thought it was just me. I reported mine to MNHQ.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 10/09/2014 19:39

They seem to have gone now, wonder what all that was about?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2014 19:40

i thought I was going bonkers. All I did was type 'P&P' and it turned into a clicky link for envelopes on Amazon.

CatKisser · 10/09/2014 19:41

Thanks, was going to post similar

DawnMumsnet · 10/09/2014 19:59

@Sparklingbrook

i thought I was going bonkers. All I did was type 'P&P' and it turned into a clicky link for envelopes on Amazon.

Sparklingbrook, you just did it again! I'm assuming you didn't deliberately turn the Amazon word into a link?

Right, let's get Tech on the case! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2014 20:02

Noooo!!

CalamitouslyWrong · 10/09/2014 20:05

I've got it turning both npower and ipad into links. The first npower link disappeared again fairly sharpest, but it just did it again on another thread.

Someone on the swinging B&B thread suggested it might be a google chrome extension, but I'm using an ipad so it can't be.

OddBoots · 10/09/2014 20:38

I'm glad it's not just me, I was running virus scans just in case.

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2014 20:40

Me too Odd, i was worried it was a virus.

I'm getting this too. I typed iPod Classic and iPod Touch and both are now links to amazon because of this skim words thing.

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 10/09/2014 20:48

And now all three of those brands I mentioned above are clicky links. Very annoying.

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2014 20:55

It's doing it to that travel website with the reviews on too (TA).

Peanutbutterfingers · 10/09/2014 21:16

Yep, thread about toddlers in chat has clicky link on 'highchair' to nursery selling site.

Looks like you're endorsing crap sites/products

Glad it's not intentional

BertieBotts · 10/09/2014 22:07

I'm not seeing links but I've seen two people talking about this on separate threads tonight.

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/09/2014 22:11

Is one of them me Bertie? Grin

Do Not Like. Harrumph.

AnnieLobeseder · 10/09/2014 22:19

Oooh, Amazon has hacked Mumsnet! How RUDE! It happened on this thead (at the bottom).

TryingNotToLaugh · 10/09/2014 22:20

For a minute there I thought it was a new mumsnet thing!

mathanxiety · 11/09/2014 06:44

Mine disappeared but when my cursor moved over the terms accidentally they reappeared. They seem to be coming and going.

scaevola · 11/09/2014 06:50

I hadn't seen this thread, so posted on the one which was in active when it did it to me.

In case it helps, another threads is here

and there was an earlier one here as well

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2014 07:25

There are lots of threads about this now. The links seem to come and go. It's all v odd.

DoctorTwo · 11/09/2014 08:30

Maybe try this. This has happened before on here, and it's usually an unwanted browser extension.

ScarlettlovesRhett · 11/09/2014 09:11

I was on the 'where were you' 9/11 thread, and wondered why everyone was linking to businesses whilst recounting something so awful Confused

I don't like it!

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 11/09/2014 09:13

They're all over the place now.

JuniperTisane · 11/09/2014 09:18

Oh thank god its not my computer. Its driving me insane! I've been turning off all my Chrome extensions, run malwarebytes, full virus scan, nothing changes.

Please sort it out Tech.
