Is there an end date for the nightwatch trial?

Just curious after last night.

Hullo ArsenicFaceCream

The Nightwatch is one of those "suck it and see" sort of things, that will probably keep evolving as Mumsnet does Smile

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 16:38

Very diplomatic answer.

Can you please confirm that the nightwatcher refusing to hide the willy-photo troll's thread was not a real nightwatcher though?

Oh come on. This is good wholesome nosiness. Just blurt

OP posts:
ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 17:28

You'll only say TSSDNCOP anyway right? Grin

In all seriousness, some kind of prefect badge for the nightwatch might be a good idea?

Nightwatch is voluntary

Unpaid MNers who can hide threads or posts, but have no obligation to. Indeed no obligation to read threads at all.

There were guidelines about using the facility to hide threads or posts. In particular guidance about blatant spam and similar rather than making judgement calls.

There will always be threads or posts that some people find offensive and others do not.

Erm, yes, my fault for not being clear.

A (very ugly) naked man posted multiple photos of himself and his genitals along with explicit suggestions, invitations, his location etc.

It was the least debatable delete ever.

The thread went on for 300+. It was all a bit odd.

Being able to identify who had the power to delete would have helped I think.

Someone said she could delete but wouldn't because it was 'hilarious'. On reflection I don't believe she WAS nightwatch, which made me think.

Nightwatch are allowed to identify themselves but are under no obligation to.

And now you libel the poor man as 'ugly' Wink too? But his mother must be so proud.

AuntieStella · 01/08/2014 19:09

Even if the lovely NightWatchers are volunteers on whose judgement we depend, I hope that cock shots (or links to cock shots) will always be promptly zapped.

PS: I'm not sure "suck it and see" is what anyone would have wanted to do last night Grin

Sounds very suspect to me.

It was clearly a textbook case of suspending thread until MNHQ could look at it.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 21:44

So people think she was nightwatch then? Oo er Confused

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 01/08/2014 21:53

I would hope it wasn't a member of Nightwatch, just a trolly twat intent on stirring it.

MNHQ will know, obviously.

Posting pictures of genitalia is not only seriously bad, taste, it is also abusive. Forcing women (and men) to look at your genitals is a sign of a disturbed person, and those who found it funny really don't understand how deeply disturbing this can be, let alone this being a completely inappropriate place for this kind of behaviour.

Its flashing via social media. Ask yourselves if you would think it funny if your children were subject to the same, next time you decide its a bit of a laff.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 22:09

It seems more likely to me that it wasn't but I'll stop asking just in case. I don't want to conduct a witch hunt.

Are you talking to me?

I don't think ithe thread itself or the moderation failure are remotely funny.

I'm just trying not to be too po faced about the inquest.

OP posts:
ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 22:17

I tried to nudge the alleged 'nightwatch' person to take it down, as did IK8, Defarage (I sure as hell didn't contribute to the flashers thread)

What do you think I started this thread for FGS?

steady there, arsenic. Obviously not addressed to you. A general address to those who partook in the, er, merriment.

sheesh.

And the name is Defarge. MadameDefarge

But starting two threads seems a bit OTT to me, now you ask.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 22:30

Actually, now I read it again, I think she could be nightwatch as she came back to the nightwatch thread after the event, to insist the photos were 'floppy' (??) and therefore 'not porn'.

Which I challenged her on. But it does look like an attempt at self-justifcation for not deleting.

Either way the three and a half time lag wasn't great.

I don't know what the answer is, but I don't think the current system works. Just my opinion.

Now I'm off to find something more cheery.

I haven't

Apologies. I thought you were claiming the vomming one as yours.

It does kind of read like that.

Steady on the trigger, there, eh?

LadySybilLikesCake · 01/08/2014 22:37

Actually, Arsnic. I started that one. The image should have been removed IMO. Just because it wasn't erect it doesn't mean people were not offended by it, Obscene Publications and all of that Wink

LadySybilLikesCake · 01/08/2014 22:40

There was only one vomming thread, MadameDefarge. Unless MN went pear shaped.
