Just curious after last night.

yes. And then this one also.

Would you like an apology also for my having mistakenly read arsenic as claiming she started your thread too?

Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.

Because I am one of the bad guys, obviously.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 22:42

I know you did Sybil, very efficiently Smile

And I misread Madame as saying I found the flasher amusing, for which I too apologise.

Now let's all calm down Smile

Of course not, Madame Smile Wine? In no way are you one of the bad guys.

Anyone for Cake?

MadameDefarge · 01/08/2014 22:49

Phew!

Cake and no cock, please.

But I wanted to ask on site stuff about when nightwatch as a whole was being evaluated, because I thought it was a trial and I thought last night's debacle was pretty interesting. But,

a) I as wrong about the trial
b) Midafternoon, I thought I had a realisation about the nightwatch peep not being genuine, but I could have been wrong.

Oh yes Cake please Smile

Quite right, Maryz. It's a tricky one though, the sites I know with 24 hour moderation are all heavily funded as it costs a fortune to have well trained, experienced staff who are up to date with all the legal side of running a site. The nightwatch are volunteers and it takes a hell of a long time to learn the skills needed, and they can't be expected to do more for free as that's unfair.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 22:59

Disable pictures overnight?

OP posts:
LadySybilLikesCake · 01/08/2014 23:01

Does MNHQ have the ability to do that though? I'd imagine no one person has the ability to flick a switch and turn things off, especially a moderator.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 23:01

True Sybil and the nightwatch are a lovely lot and very kind to volunteer.

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 01/08/2014 23:02

New years eve, anyone?

Ahem.

LadySybilLikesCake · 01/08/2014 23:04

Seriously, MadameDefarge. On any site do you really think one person has the ability to flick a switch? I work in social media, it can't happen.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 23:06

I don't know. I'm clueless on the tech and the cost TBH.

It would have been awful publicity if a journalist had seen that, though. Not just the troll and his seedy photos but the squawking, hen-night style antics around it. For hours and hours.

I'd hate people to think that's what MN is about.

OP posts:
LadySybilLikesCake · 01/08/2014 23:07

Penis Beaker, Arsenic.

MadameDefarge · 01/08/2014 23:07

Were you not here on New Years Eve?

That is precisely what DID happen.

ArsenicFaceCream · 01/08/2014 23:08

What about the ability for nightwatch to zap photos rather than whole threads (not sure i see the rationale but it was floated and people might feel more comfortable) can that be done?

OP posts:
LadySybilLikesCake · 01/08/2014 23:08

Yup, I was. I doubt that's what happened though.

Mintyy · 01/08/2014 23:09

I am really really really REALLY REALLY fucking curious about what warrants instant deletion now, if floppy cock photos don't.

With respect, Nightwatch isn't up to much if you can't handle that sort of abusive invasion, HQ.

Penis beaker was cringey and gave people a certain idea but it didn't involve people interacting with a sex offender.

I missed NYE.

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 01/08/2014 23:11

Sybil. That is exactly what happened.

There is no wild conspiracy here.
