Another feature I would love MN to add to their talk forums... the ability to quote a user when replying Grin

What Dezza said. Tis too messy. MN has cleanolines.

LEAVE OUR WEBSITE ALONE!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/06/2014 11:13

Clean lines. Sigh.

That and tagging another user in a post. You know how on Facebook you use the @ symbol before someone's name? And then you could get a notification when someone's responded to your post on a thread.

HecatePropylaea · 29/06/2014 11:18

It looks awful.
Particularly when you get a quote inside a quote inside a quote inside a quote inside a quote inside a...

before you know it, the whole thread is a mess.

We have the bold facility.

To highlight who we are replying to, MTWTFSS, if we feel it isn't clear, we can use that.

I don't repeat the sentence said to me in RL before answering it.

Hi Hec, how are you?

Hi Hec, how are you?
I am fine thanks, you?

Hi Hec, how are you?
I am fine thanks, you?
Yeah, I'm fine too. Been a busy week.

Hi Hec, how are you?

Yeah, I'm fine too. Been a busy week.
why? What have you been up to?

Nope.

I prefer the more natural flow of conversation that is created here by just chatting, iyswim.

PedlarsSpanner · 29/06/2014 11:24

Hi Hec, how are you?

PedlarsSpanner · 29/06/2014 11:25

Hey passports/visas blah blah - news?

JuniperTisane · 29/06/2014 11:28

I want a Cleanolineâ„¢ now.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/06/2014 11:31

Yiu can have mine, Junipdarling, it's Irking me. Hmm

Hi Hec, how are you?

insancerre · 29/06/2014 11:34

I can copy and paste on my computer but on my phone its a hassle
I would love to see a quote feature and I like theiidea of tagging posters

HappyHippyChick · 29/06/2014 11:35

Nooooo! I hate the quote in a quote in a quote look, it's really difficult to read

MTWTFSS · 29/06/2014 11:39

I like the idea of being notified from quoted :)

OP posts:
TheCowThatLaughs · 29/06/2014 11:46

No, please no!

HecatePropylaea · 29/06/2014 11:59
Grin I am fine thanks.

Re passports - ARRGGHHHHHHHHH!
that about covers it.
dont want to take thread over, want me to pm you or should I find the thread and update there?

HavantGuard · 29/06/2014 12:01

Cut and paste.

FruVikingessOla · 29/06/2014 18:03

I tend to do it this way :

"No, please no!". I absolutely agree with you TheCow

OscarWinningActress · 29/06/2014 18:07

We don't do that here on planet MN. Just copy, paste and bold.

poorbuthappy · 29/06/2014 18:12

And then we'll end up with people quoting massive posts and simply putting "ha ha" on the end.
Makes everything so untidy.

Sallystyle · 29/06/2014 21:43

I think it is much more messy to have bolded names over the place and then have to scroll up when someone doesn't bold the quote they are responding (and just mention the name of the poster instead) to so I understand what the conversation is about.

I am with ya op Grin

TheCowThatLaughs · 29/06/2014 22:02

Exactly, Fru

wafflyversatile · 29/06/2014 22:03

A quote function is far superior to copying and pasting.

MrsWinnibago · 29/06/2014 22:06

I don't want that. I find sites with that feature are horribly confusing as everyone qoutes one another more and more and each reply is longer.

this is easy enough to do when you've copied and pasted somebody's words

hugoagogo · 29/06/2014 22:12

When people quote on other forums it confuses me and makes the threads too long.

We don't need it.

Hi Hec how are ya? Grin

DramaAlpaca · 29/06/2014 22:15

I don't want a quote function. It would make the site messy & hard to read and more like Netmums

Cut, paste & bold is just as quick & easy, and you can select the bits of a post that are actually relevant.
