something ought to be done about her derailing of a thread that was supporting a grieving woman.

Many of us reported last night, the user is still at it.

I am the OP who started the thread in question. On the whole everyone was lovely to me and I received lots of messages of support and hope. Last night I was very distressed and couldn't sleep well. However when I woke up I was very angry at mumsnet on the handling of things. Someone started a thread in aibu about the goody poster. This was quickly deleted and I think the same person started a new thread in chat. I reported my own thread long before mumsnet deleted the one another poster started in aibu so they were able to take quick action on that but didn't deal with mine until this morning. That's what pissed me off this morning. I won't be coming here again for advice, that's not a slur on the majority of members at all, they were and are fantastic, I am so angry that mumsnet hq seem to pick and choose what they can be bothered dealing with and have very strange priorities. I can't risk being made to feel the way I did last night again in the near future, I'm not strong enough at the moment.

OP I am so sorry this has all happened. I completely understand why you no longer wish to post.

I hope you and your family recover from this terrible loss. Take care of yourself.

Waltzing, I am really sorry about what happened. I know it is no comfort at all, but most of us are decent people who were truly revolted by that poster.
I am really sorry for your loss. Thanks

Echoing everything Hecate said. I'm so sorry for your loss.

If Caitlin177 isn't banned I will be deregistering.

Thanks folks for your continuing support. My problem is not with the mumsnet community, I could have went to other parenting sites but as a casual lurker and reader of this forum and a couple of others, this one was the best choice, I need real advice and help, not a bunch of people giving me virtual hugs (although they are nice too).

I want mumsnet hq to tell me why they were able to pull a thread within minutes of being started about my thread but wouldn't respond to my message to them. In fact they still haven't actually replied to me, they just deleted the thread this morning. By the time I logged in this morning it was gone so I didn't see anyone else's posts. There was a mod online last night, there must have been to delete the other one, so I'd like to know why they were so slow to act on mine. I wasn't the only person who reported that poster, I had several private messages from people saying they too had reported.

Oh Waltzing I'm truly sorry you had to contend with that Sad

I can only echo what the others have said, in that the majority of posters were horrified by the goading that went on, but I understand why you feel the way you do. Flowers

I pm'd Caitlin177 last night, to try to appeal to her sense of decency, and got a message back basically focusing only on the 'abuse' she had received on that thread. I sent the pm before I realised that this was not the well-known poster, but someone with a very similar name, possibly hairy of hand. Had I realised that, I wouldn't have bothered with the pm, as there would have been no point appealing to a non-existent sense of decency.

Waltzingmary - I am so, so sorry at how that thread got derailed, and how it has upset you. My heart goes out to you at this difficult and painful time, and I would like to reiterate that I think your feelings of anger are completely valid. There is no excuse for your neighbour's behaviour.

As I said last night, I wonder if it might help to write a letter, saying all the things you need to say to this neighbour - a complete venting of everything you are feeling - not to send to her, but because it may help you to get it all out in some way.

Waltzing im so sorry for your loss and also for what happened on your thread.

I can totally understand why you might not use mn again, if you change your mind thiugh there are some fantastic posters in bereavement. They were a real support to me when I lost my son in pregnancy.

Wishing you the best

Agree wholeheartedly! She couldn't see anything at all wrong in what she was doing!

How long has Caitlin177 been around for? Did the original Caitlin fight for her name?

Report
Germgirl · 12/06/2014 12:04

The original Caitlin asked the new one several times why she'd chosen that name in particular but the goady twat new one didn't reply. This was on a thread about name changing.

A few weeks I think, caitlin17 nc because people were confusing the two and she didn't want to be associated with some of the stuff caitlin177 was coming out with.

As caitin177 wouldn't answer why she chose such a similar name iy doesnt seem like they are willing to give it up for the original

Funnyfoot · 12/06/2014 12:06

Only this month Mintyy.

The thread where the original asked her why she had chosen that name is here

Waltzing for what it's worth I'm so sorry you were treated this way. I completely understand why you don't want to be here. Personally I stopped asking for advice and support a while back (I won't go into what or why but will admit to it paling into insignificance when considering your tragedy but I was in a dark place at the time) and was made to feel like I had no right to feel as I did. Now I just tend to stick to light and fluffy threads (mostly). Thinking of you op. X

See, I think from Worra's post on this thread that she thinks we are talking about the original Caitlin. She hasn't clocked the subtle difference in the name?

Report
WorraLiberty · 12/06/2014 12:15

Mintyy I know we're talking about the troll Caitlin and not the original.

Caitlin177 has been around less than a week. She posted on a thread about name changing and was challenged by the original Caitlin.

177 has taken a pop at lots of people on other threads and been a permanent misery from what I've seen.

waltzing I'm sorry you won't be posting here anymore, your point about fourforks thread getting deleted immediately is good one. I don't understand it either.

We will be here if you decide to come back at any point.

Best of luck with everything ahead.

It does need explaining.

my thread was very clearly against guidelines. The trolling of walzing's thread was much more a judgement call. I posted my AIBU to see if any hq people were around. I guess the person on last night wasn't 100% sure so waited, which is unfortunate but understandable.
