why have I received an email addressing me by my username?

My RL name isn't chipped (funnily enough) so why have I received email to my personal account saying "Dear Chipped"?

How secure is this site Justine?

An email from MNHQ ? Or from an unsolicited, seemingly unconnected source ? That would be a bit worrying.

When I receive emails in response to reports they are always addressed to Dear Username though they go to my [email protected] email

Weird.. I too will be watching this thread with interest as a colleague sent me an e-mail this week addressed to my POF username and I haven't been on there for over two years.

when you say email- do you mean actual real email, or your MN inbox?

How would a colleague even know your POF name? Or....?

Surely if you signed up for a comp you would have to tick the box saying please sign me up to all manner of things and bombard my inbox with crap..?

Yes this is the only place I use this name. I'm racking my brains, but I only remember entering two or three competitions ever (nothing to do with bras).

Sorry for the confusion.. I now realise that this is not what OP was talking about as the email I received was not "Dear POF name", but my POF name was in the "sent to" box.

I just mentioned it because it very strange and I haven't worked it out yet and I thought maybe the situation was similar to OP's.
