Do you think it's time to start a sexuality shaming topic?

For all those who want us to shut up and not to help and laugh with others about sex?

Maybe we could keep the censorious ness and the comments of "what is wrong with people?"

"This is pathetic"

"Why do you need/want to talk about this?"

I've seen no "twats", either metaphorical, or literal, on the sex threads, just coherent, strong argument in favour of discussion and some great humour at times.

I notice that the anti-sex brigade didn't answer some of the rebuttals and counter questions to their protests on the sex threads. Perhaps they'd care to elaborate on a special "Sexuality shaming" thread? Then they can get together some really good insults going and hopefully make the "sex positive" posters among us shut up and creep back into the woodwork.

Has it got legs, do you think?

Sparklingbrook a notebook?! How Victorian. Get with the times woman and click on that Excel icon Wink

Sparklingbrook · 19/05/2014 12:32

I was new! I thought a notebook would be suffice Chippy. How wrong I was.......

TantrumsAndBalloons · 19/05/2014 13:06

It's not sad sparkling

It just shows what a nice person you are.

Sparklingbrook · 19/05/2014 13:22

Even now I feel like I am walking on eggshells half the time on here if I am honest.

HavannaSlife · 19/05/2014 13:23

I nc about 3 weeks ago due to over sharing a little, not on a sex thread but on a late termination thread. Id bwen toying with the idea anyway because quitw a few variations of my nn had been popping up

Before that I had the same nn pretty much for 3 years, dont think anyone would recognise my posting style though

Mignonette · 19/05/2014 14:09

The reason I use 'old timer' is that Gimmer is incorrect - it means young when used w/ reference to sheep Smile.

I like longer timer and old timer. It is meant with affection so apologies to anyone who was offended by it. Wasn't meant as a PA insult or any other insult.

Growing old is a privilege not a burden or insult.

Sparkling your notebook that referenced things like that wasn't sad- it is actually eye stingingly heartwarming

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/05/2014 14:24

I have never understood the Gimmer reference as I know far too much about sheep.

I've been here since DS was born, so a few years, though this actual account is only a year and a half old as I forgot my pw to my old MN account and didn't remember the email or anything related to it Blush MN has changed a little, but then I use other forums to and most tend to change! I don't know if I can name forums but I used to frequent another one that was always busy then they changed the layout and it literally just died a death over night. It happens. I still every so often, reply to a troll thread. I really just think "meh, it happens" when I see the deletion messages, it doesn't make anyone "naive" or stupid or wanting to be somebody's wank fodder or whatever you want to say. It is quite annoying when people come on a thread just to say this is pathetic, why would you do this? Well none of your business really. If someone does want to discuss anal sex or poo it's up to them. The poo threads are generally never funny to me and are just annoying so I don't bother to read them. I also tend to avoid topics that end up annoying me like UKIP posts or posts about underage sex as I tend to get irritated by some of the replies, it's really not hard to just ignore the topics you dislike.

I don't think anybody has recognized me from my old username though. I've been DMU since Jan 2013. :)

Mignonette · 19/05/2014 14:57

Yes I felt irritated by the suggestion that I was to naive to see it or somehow wanted some idiot to wank over my (not sexually salacious) posts.

I also don't read deletion messages, don't care so much if the odd troll gets past (although I often wonder if people didn't harp on so much about them, people wouldn't feel so troubled by the fact that they'd taken the time to post a considered piece of writing or feel duped). What is posted on a troll thread is so often useful to lurkers and those participating so just how much are troll threads a 'waste' anyway? Good comes from bad.

I am also a little Confused about MNers who hide so many topics and threads yet feel qualified to comment upon them. Reading a few posts of that FE thread (or others similar), deciding that the few explicit posts are 1)indicative of its entirety and 2) reason to hide the thread, then denouncing the thread content with no knowledge about it and being scathing about the motives of the unread by themselves posters is like not voting and then expecting to commentate. You've lost the credibility and the right to.

Mintyy · 19/05/2014 16:04

This keeps popping up for me cos its on my Threads I'm On list. I can't believe that there is anything more to say after Bof's quite excellent post:

"It does still come down to the general character of the site though, and helping it remain the wonderful female-focused space it is, rather than posting so much potentially titillating stuff all over the place in high-traffic areas that we shoot ourselves in the foot and end up pulling the ladder up on future users. Once we become a massive magnet for laddish site invasions of pervs and voyeurs who fundamentally consider us ridiculous, then we risk losing what makes us special.

It just requires posters to be a little bit circumspect about how and where they post, so we can still talk about what we want, while flying under the radar of obviously non-genuine wankers.

I suspect that tweeting Penis Beaker was the biggest liability event for mumsnet since the Gina Ford debacle."

How can anyone argue with that?

Thurlow · 19/05/2014 16:11

Can't argue with the PB point, definitely not. I wish I knew what was going through MN's mind when they tweeted that. I mean, I found the original thread reasonably funny but the fact that they pushed that thread out into the public consciousness basically just shouted MN=sex into the public consciousness. I mean, it's not like they ever advertised the whole Centre Parcs = bum sex malarkey that has been going on for ages.

I do feel sorry for the poster who started that thread. It wasn't their fault, but if they are still on here it gets brought up again and again and is blamed for MN apparently changing a lot over the past few months. I hardly imagine that was their agenda when they started the thread.

ForeskinHyena · 19/05/2014 16:26

OH sorry, I hadn't realised we were only allowed to discuss actual parenting on a parenting forum.

I guess all those other categories like pets, jobs, cycling, cooking, dieting, relationships, spiritual, style and beauty, feminism etc are all just sitting there empty because parents only want to talk about potty training, reading levels and naughty steps.

I was under the impression that this site was for anyone (apparently there are even posters on here who don't have children Shock ) to discuss anything that was within talk guidelines.

The next time I read a thread that says that something I do regularly and willingly within the confines of my own relationship is morally abhorrent and means my DP is a misogynistic porn addict, I'll just add a little post saying "well I think it's fine" and that will enrich the discussion no end Hmm

Mignonette · 19/05/2014 16:46

Grin at Foreskinhyena

Mintyy · 19/05/2014 16:52

"OH sorry, I hadn't realised we were only allowed to discuss actual parenting on a parenting forum."

Who said that foreskin?

TequilaMockingbirdy · 19/05/2014 16:58

Sorry usual didn't see your question. It was on a facebook group.

Anyway I'll go back to lurking and the odd post, not worth the hassle of being accused and still dnt know who im supposed to be Confused

IsChippyMintonExDirectory · 19/05/2014 17:10

Mintyy Tantrums posted the following:

But it seems more logical to ask people on a parenting site about childrens issues. Not so much about ejaqculating on someones face?

usuallysuspect · 19/05/2014 17:44

Someone on the ejaculation thread feels sorry for the menz Sad whose partners don't like it.

HavannaSlife · 19/05/2014 18:39

Grin poor menz.

I still haven't read the penis beaker thread

Sparklingbrook · 19/05/2014 18:49

Don't bother Havanna, it isn't all that.

HavannaSlife · 19/05/2014 19:04

sparkling thought it might be, I read the pom bear one after it was over and done with and it was shite

Mignonette · 19/05/2014 19:05

Try reading the whole of the other thread before picking on one comment which confirms your bias. Unless of course you are a DF journo in which case there's no hope for you.

HavannaSlife · 19/05/2014 20:48

Its all so predictable, if you're not winning the argument resort to calling people msn pleasers with low self esteem

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/05/2014 21:13

Is the thread still there.?

Mignonette · 19/05/2014 21:18

Yes it is because it is not a troll thread. And quite bizarre that those who claim not to like 'sex threads' can be found on there reading and commenting upon it Grin.

That in itself is a whole other level of dysfunctional.

DownstairsMixUp · 19/05/2014 21:23

It's cos we need to be told off.
