Could we have a way of knowing if its OPs first thread?

Without having to search?
And a way to report it if its an obvious goady one from the menu page?

Eg the cancer one earlier. No need to actually read it to know it was inflammatory.

Just thinking that if people dont have to read the baiting OP, theyre less likely to get drawn in, reply, fight, troll hunt, fight some more etc...

Obviously it'd mean that any namechangers would be 'flagged up' by accident, but if it was a namechanger, the 'new poster' flag could be removed after it is reported? (And obviously there will be no need for anyone to report it if it isnt offensive, so it will just stay flagged. Iyswim?)

What do you think?

Well, the cancer one wasn't the posters first thread so your idea would have been useless.

The way to report even without knowing it was a first post could have helped? I mean making all posts reportable from the menu btw

You mean like hitting the report button?

No i mean like what i said. Are you being deliberately argumentative for some particular reason, or just plain old bogstandard rude?

Charming.

This made no sense to me. What menu? What do you mean by a way to report without knowing its a first post? You can already do that by hitting the report button.

Sorry for not fawning.

The menu? That big list thing with all of the OP titles on them, how many posts and the last person to comment (plus OP if you have it selected)? Probably not the right word, but is it that hard to figure out what i meant? Or you could have just asked.

Dare I ask if you're pre-menstral op ? Grin

OwlCapone · 29/04/2014 21:09

You mean asked like "you mean like hitting the report button?"

To which the obvious reply would have been "no, I meant from the list of thread titles"

Sheesh.

Its nobodys business how many times someones posted

omletta · 29/04/2014 21:14

I've never started a thread - but I've been here since 2009 - isn't that a bit unfair when/ if I ever do?
Or doesn't it matter if I'm not a troll....

omletta · 29/04/2014 21:15

Forget that - I forgot that I had once started a thread!!

BeyondTheVirtualActivist · 29/04/2014 21:16

Shall we start over? Blush

Owl, I apologise if i snapped for no reason. The way I was reading your posts does not appear to be how they were meant. So i am sorry for biting your head off.

I'm not premenstrual, i can be nice! Grin

I thunk it would put off normal new posters, and be ineffective against determined trolls (who could spend a couple of days posting harmlessly before unleashing poison/weirdness).

It's not that onerous to use 'search' is it?

BeyondTheVirtualActivist · 29/04/2014 21:16

Yes usual, exactly like that

Yet on New Year's Eve when oodles of goading threads were posted that was HILARIOUS.

Well i'm sure hq know whether most of the trollyfuckers are regulars who have nc/troll under their own name or people who post one thread, get banned and bugger off. Not saying either doesnt happen, but if the second is the big problem, its a way to deal with the way banned posters change their ip and come straight back?
