Could we have a way of knowing if its OPs first thread?

Without having to search?
And a way to report it if its an obvious goady one from the menu page?

Eg the cancer one earlier. No need to actually read it to know it was inflammatory.

Just thinking that if people dont have to read the baiting OP, theyre less likely to get drawn in, reply, fight, troll hunt, fight some more etc...

Obviously it'd mean that any namechangers would be 'flagged up' by accident, but if it was a namechanger, the 'new poster' flag could be removed after it is reported? (And obviously there will be no need for anyone to report it if it isnt offensive, so it will just stay flagged. Iyswim?)

What do you think?

Perhaps you need to have both minimum of XX weeks membership and XX number of normal(ish) posts before receiving NC permissions?

Nibblyboy: I kind of agree - the first NYE posts were funnies ny regulars. I was th later psts, aping the style (and no stopping when asked) which were the problem. I saw how the threads changed (stopped being funny, and at least one tipped ino unacceptable) but did no think at he time to check if the problem 'try too hard' posters were pre- or post- PB.

She might have done. How would we know?

"Its nobodys business how many times someones posted"

I suppose not. I rarely notice who's who. But the search function is there for anyone to use. And see if say a username who is beginning to slag off other posters (as eg "sad") has only been posting for one day. And drawing conclusions.

I'd live if the nc went (just let me change back to btloa first!) but mn wont, they'd lose one of their usps. And that'd leave only the swearing Grin

Oh who cares. Read. Post. Ignore.

Hello

We can see how this might be an appealing idea in some ways but it could also be a bit like pinning a 'kick me' sign on a newbie's back. As you know we've usually decided against measures that make it obvious who's a newbie and who's not, cos ideally we'd like people to be judged on their posts on a thread, not on their longevity, IYSWIM.
