Why would an entire thread be deleted for troll hunting?

Can't be faffed to email.

Genuinely curious as to why you'd choose to delete fort hat reason if it was a genuine thread?

Not terribly fair on an op and feeds this ridiculous fear of being seen to be a troll on here, or a troll hunter. Which results in providing a merry little playground for genuine trolls.

TIA Thanks MNHQ

Oh and it's NOT a Fred about a Fred it's a Fred about a deletion message so no turning up with the hump please just because your on the Sunday night shift Wink

Hello OP, no hump here - troll hunting is against our talk guidelines and when a thread is over run with troll hunting, to the extent that it inhibits the actual discussion, we'll delete.

usualsuspect33 · 23/02/2014 21:57

But if its a troll thread shouldn't it be deleted for trolling Confused

Is troll hunting worse than trolling?

HoneyDragon · 23/02/2014 21:57

So the op was genuine then? Might want to add that to the message too.

I really think you need to rejig your guidelines. I hate to say it but Nethuns are a lot more straightforward.

Or quit with the deletion messages maybe?

Having read the thread and other of late though, I have made a diagram I think might prove helpful Smile

we need a like button on here Grin

WestmorlandSausage · 23/02/2014 22:16

I think I know the thread you are talking about and I thought it was a troll. I didn't post or watch so didn't get the deletion message.

if we are talking about the same thread (we might not be) then I'm pretty sure it wasn't a genuine thread.

Usual hints - first time poster, couple of posts on other threads in quick succession and then an inflammatory thread of their own.

Nice pic, Honey! Grin

Tweasels · 23/02/2014 23:30

It's all took an interesting turn hasn't it?

usualsuspect33 · 23/02/2014 23:35

Anyway she's back trolling.

Delete the thread for trolling this time?

Funnyfoot · 23/02/2014 23:40

Just seen it usual. She's like a returning genital itch isn't she!

Lj8893 · 23/02/2014 23:43

honey I think I love you a little bit.

Ok, declaration made.

As you were.

HoneyDragon · 23/02/2014 23:43

Right, so a troll thread gets deleted for troll hunting? How come the SheffieldGuy thread didn't get deleted for troll hunting then?

OP posts:
usualsuspect33 · 23/02/2014 23:45

Should have been deleted because 'The troll hunters were right'

Tweasels · 23/02/2014 23:45

Sorry to be a complete PO faced boring destroyer of all things fun...

But

the "place marking to see the deletion message" posts are starting to really piss me off.

That should be deemed as worse than troll hunting.

HoneyDragon · 23/02/2014 23:48

Tweasels, hence the deletion messages should go. I don't think that's being Po at all.

OP posts:
usualsuspect33 · 23/02/2014 23:48

I hope the deletion message just says 'deleted for trolling'

RhondaJean · 23/02/2014 23:52

The reason for the deletion messages is to stop the forty zillion "what happened to that thread I went for a cuppa and now it's gone" threads that otherwise get posted and have to be zapped too.

I was one of the ones who requested them in the first place if I remember correctly.

KarenBrockman · 23/02/2014 23:52

I am confused is this the same one who posted about a dodgy g/f of her ex?

AnyFuckerHQ · 23/02/2014 23:53

Boxy again, is it ?

Tweasels · 23/02/2014 23:55

The deletion message is fine RhondaJean. It's the thicko rubberneckers who think any troll thread means HQ should write a witty poem to sum it up. That's what irks me.

AGREED.

HoneyDragon · 23/02/2014 23:59

Yes, I think I agreed at the time Rhonda, but the reasons for deletion are so fucking iffy sometimes, and on top if that we had a huge bunfight when MNHQ deleted a troll, said it was a troll and POsters still fucking complained that it got deleted, said it was a terrible way to treat the poster even though she was a troll.

ghostinthecanvas · 24/02/2014 00:09

You got a reply from hq within 5 minutes and despite multiple reporting the other thread is still up?
At 99 and counting.

I don't understand. HQ are obviously not sleeping. There is a troll and troll hunters. Ongoing.

Funnyfoot · 24/02/2014 00:12

Oh god I got sucked in to that thread Honeydragon!

My trolldar was on the blink that day.
