It's stereotypical and lazy.

Can you link to it please, I can't see it.

NymodigFruOla · 24/01/2014 06:33

This one? www.mumsnet.com/teenagers

neiljames77 · 24/01/2014 06:42

I don't think it's accurate either. The arm rest would have empty glasses and chocolate wrappers on it.

Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2014 06:43

What do you suggest instead? Studious and revising?

I suggest "glued to a screen". Plus empty Pringles tubes.

JeanSeberg · 24/01/2014 06:46

I agree with DrNick, hundreds more positive examples to choose from.

Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2014 06:47

I suggest lay on bed playing PS4 with headset on eating jaffa cakes surrounded by dirty undercrackers and crockery.

DrNick · 24/01/2014 06:50

Oh ha. But I'm sick of this stereotype. Even when s1 was in hospital in some pain the consultant made cheap gags about teenage boys grunting.

Wouldn't accept it about girls.

I felt like saying "he's broken his fucking arm and consumed a cannister of gas and air don't think our be flippen Stephen fry at the point, nobber!"

But I simpered resentfully

OP posts:
DrNick · 24/01/2014 06:52

Mine don't. But I once suggested they didn't fight either and was accused of being a liar. So hey.

DrNick · 24/01/2014 06:52

Sparkers- kids have no idea who he is now. We is old

It's actually a scarily accurate picture of my own teens!
Grin
Well, my youngest isnt into hoodies, but my eldest lives in them and they are both fairly well welded to the sofa (when not on their consoles!)
and instead of stomachs, it would appear there is some sort of bottomless pit contained with them. If dinner is late, I fear I may get eaten Grin

what do your own teenagers look like?

JazzAnnNonMouse · 24/01/2014 06:52

I agree, teenagers/young people are constantly vilified.
Let's show the positive.

Don't have teen girls (thankfully) as I believe they mainly look like this.

DrNick · 24/01/2014 06:54

Thanks Rudy. My s1 looks like bieber. To his chagrin.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 24/01/2014 06:54

They dont fight? Envy

DrNick · 24/01/2014 06:56

I'd put a pic of someone doing sport or hanging out. They like to hang out don't they.

Wrt food. Three meals this week I've undercooked. Seems there are 5 adults now. 12 chicken thighs not enough. 24 meatballs not enough. Wtf

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2014 06:56

Ds1 and Ds2 fight like cat and dog over everything.

DrNick · 24/01/2014 06:56

Never. 3 boys. It'snot inevitable !

OP posts:
ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 24/01/2014 06:58

I dont see that picture as vilification. It looks sweet and funny to me.

but I dont see hoodies as hiding the face of a demon.

my eldest lives in his and he is a darling!

they are both slobby buggers, they argue with each other, theyre obsessed with their consoles, they are permenantly starving... and they are good, kind, sweet, boys .

In fact, last night my eldest threw himself at me and flung his arms round me for no reason at all and just hugged me for ages.
