I think I've just been a total idiot...I've been conned, haven't I?

I was on mumsnet when this happened about 10 minutes ago...a page popped up saying that I had been randomly selected from 'active conversations' to complete a questionnaire, and that I would be awarded a free gift.

I then answered 4 very basic questions which led to another page where I could select 1 of three free gifts.

The options were 1) a sin cream, 2) a £50 voucher or 3) 'Slim Body Cleanse'

I chose option 3, and then filled in my name, address and bank card details [blush.]

Have any other mners had experience of this?

Could MNHQ confirm if this is an official survey sanctioned by MN, or if it is indeed a con, as I suspect.

TIA

Hi OP, can you report this to us? We need to look at it ASAP and then we'll post on this thread to clarify - sound ok?

CatherineMumsnet · 13/01/2014 22:48

MN surveys would either be stickied in active convos or promoted on the home page. As far as I'm aware we'd never do a survey on a pop up page. HTH

Hi Misfitless

Really sorry this has happened to you. We'd just like to reiterate that official Mumsnet surveys won't appear as a pop up, and we certainly won't ask for any card details.

If anyone comes across any thing on MN that you think looks dodgy, please do take a screen shot and send it to us. We're always happy to take a look and verify stuff, but in general, if in doubt, do nowt.

We'll alert Tech to this, and see if there's anything they can do.
