HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

CarpeVinum · 30/12/2013 17:46

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

Having been mostly offline since before Xmas had missed all this.

Am amazed at the utter idiocy of the man. Well done ladies, great job!

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 20:48

yup Zombie, and we can keep the pressure on.

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 20:51

Yes, it's sustained pressure we need to keep going - I am sure JH is hoping this'll all blow over soon

SuiGeneris · 02/01/2014 20:53

Have contempt proceedings started yet? If not, does anyone know why not?

junowiththegladrags · 02/01/2014 20:55

Has anyone got a say A4 length précis of Mr Hemmings shall we say more objectionable contributions to adoption discussion on mn?

It's so frustrating that the coverage of this is "naughty step" slanted when in reality if a full investigative look at his contributions might make for a more realistic story.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 20:55

nah. the writing is on the wall for the maverick mp from brum. from now on, every statement, every mistake will be pounced upon. And while his ego will welcome any publicity, and he will play up to it, with silly comments like naughty step, he will be brought down as a public figure. Because quite simply now there are more ferociously intelligent folk on his his case than ever before. People who will not give up.

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 20:57

I do not know how people do this for a living.

I have lost four kilos!

ai thought PR/Media was a fluffy fun job. It's not. ait's HORRIBLE,

You work like a dog, get nowhere, then 8 buses all come at once...which means the REAL work now has to begin.

It's like being a hamster in a wheel, but everytime hamster beats his personal best, the wheel gets bigger, but he still needs to maintain the same fullspin/time relationship.

I'd collapse if this was my actual job.

Have contempt proceedings started yet? If not, does anyone know why not?

Before xmas ai was told "in hand, at senior civil servant level".

I am choosing to believe that xmam/NY is just slowing things down a bit.

And/or Judge Munby wants to take his time and build his weapon stash, so this time he gets him good.

OP posts:
Spero · 02/01/2014 21:08

JH doesn't seem to think he was in contempt and is raising some jurisdictional issues which I don't understand and I don't think are relevant.

I think the more realistic reason nothing has happened is a) he will say it was a mistake which he very quickly corrected b)the Judicial Office themselves tweeted a copy of the order with the baby's name, so egg all over their face c) the name is probably easy to find on the internet anyway.

But for me the saddest thing is he couldn't just say 'I'm sorry. Of course I understand why this baby's identity should be protected. I wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardise the welfare of a child'.

But he won't say that because he really doesn't care about the children. He refers to them as 'stocks' and 'flows' in his spreadsheets.

Spero · 02/01/2014 21:09

Carpe, you are doing an amazing job. Your tenacity is incredible. I feel very lucky that you and Lake stumbled across the first thread as I am convinced it was the Italian angle that has made the difference - you pushed him into making a massive mistake and I think that is what led to the posting while pissed. And that is the hook that attracted the media. Maybe now someone will dig a little deeper.

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 21:11

Oh, don't hold your breath for beurocratic wheels to get in motion!

Sad @ 'stocks' and 'flows'

confuddledDOTcom · 02/01/2014 21:17

I know that the news hasn't been very good on this but the more it's spoken about the more the powers that be are going to want to know WTH is going on!

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 21:18

I don't know Pacific, when I called Munby's court I stsrted eith the recpetionsit. Told all, as soon as I said his name there was a Huge Gust, and suddenly I was passed up another level, repeat ahufe Exasperated Fust, and up again.... all the way to the clerk to the president (is Munby the president ?). He also did at the name. Took all the details, and my phone number........ and then called me back. Seemed quite excited, professional, but you can tell when somebody's mood has lifted.

So... I am still holding out hope for leg irons in the dock.

It's whst keeps me going.

Spero

Britian/Italy/Bipolar ... total thread bait from my perspective. And it fished me within mintes of me sniffing it.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 21:18

Its been bloody great!

LakeDistrictBabe · 02/01/2014 21:47

Spero
Yeah Hemming and Co wanted the Italian angle too and they went around boasting about how brutal British social services are in comparison to Italian ones, how barbaric Brits are, etc etc... and in doing that they pissed off the whole Italian government, two courts and... ouch list is endless! Did they like they international angle? Well take it a whole now, bwahahaha ;)

Carpe translation ready... sending it by email?

Well done all of you ladies, by the way... because many, many mumsnetters helped and, personally, I felt so warmed and encouraged by all the PMs and comments, even the ones posted by the lurkers who delurked just to post once...

Big massive thanks Thanks

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 22:07

watching sky news... press preview at 10.30 Italy time.

Will be GLUED to it.

Lake yes please ! Will be bunging up the hemminggate site tommorow, thank you SO much!

Managed to cause a massive spike in synopsis traffic by twwetingntuis ti anybody who showed up on a search tweeting hemming gate stuff in the press

"If you are interested in an ACCURATE and complete version of the Hemming/Mumsnet story please see here.
homeschoolinitaly.blogspot.it/2013/12/hemminggate.html

I fanybody is up for jioning in, change the wording, underlining there is a "real story" out there, tweet it where you like, should start raising eyeborws and questions over the diff between the presses sotry and what actuall happened.

We need to hammer HIGNFY, this story is a gift for them, let's make sure they have the real version too. they are on twitter, maybe facebook, emails too !

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 22:12

Surely HIGNFY would love this - as long as they don't concentrate too much on the 'naughty step' nonsense (I've read the DM comments and am Angry but cannot bring myself to register to be able to post replies)

Does anybody have any contacts to them - Private Eye contacts? Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 22:14

I'll tweet them again now, have also been trying to get @huffpostukpol 's attention, if anyone else wants to try them?

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 22:15

the naught step minimisation isnjust the sort of shit they like to slice through though.

I love Ian Hislop.

No really, I do.

I have long longed for him to adopt me.

I have twweted HIGNFY several time over ... how ever long it's been. But now... now they might be interested,

But we really need them getting the link from all sides, somit doesn't slip throgh the cracks.

Let me see if they have an email address.

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 22:17

I am channelling the PO on the telgraph comments, I rather like it! Its all true!

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 22:18

Go Madame !

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 22:19

How do you find somebody to contact from HIGNFY? Do you absolutely have to be on Twatter/FB to find these people?

I love Ian Hislop too - and Paul Merton can be v funny. I also used to love Angus; it's not the same without him

LakeDistrictBabe · 02/01/2014 22:23

Carpe

Sent! :)

Nannight ladies, I will be ready for fight and up in arms early in the morning :)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/01/2014 22:26

Is it on at the moment? Because if it's not, they won't be much use. They aren't overly kind about mumsnet iirc, but presumably would love the naughty step/pissed in charge of a politician's gob angle....

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 22:29

Oh, never thought about it being off air.

Anybody know ?
