So I come back to find that you have deleted my thread asking why my Santa thread was deleted.

Of course it was a thread about a thread, it was asking a question about the thread.

Wtf else is one supposed to do?

I put it in site stuff.

It was also a really nice friendly thread full of poetry and laughs. Why why why why was it deleted? What the hell is going on there?

Secondly, if one wants to talk about something, and that something has been deleted purely owing to others mischief, does that mean that one is never to talk about that subject again??

Some long standing posters think MN has changed. Other long standing posters think it hasn't.

We'd really appreciate it if we could move the conversation away from AmyMN specifically. She is indeed young and gorgeous . She's also highly clever and extremely competent. But nonetheless it would be a bit odd for this thread to be specifically about her.

As you've probably noticed, on threads like this there's an imbalance of arms - in that MNers can pretty much say what they like about MNHQers, but we have to respond in a professional way. (Occasional moment of hot-headedness aside )

As such it would be ENORMOUSLY appreciated if the convo could be de-personalised when it comes to MNHQers

Sorry, Rowan, I wasn't intending to suggest that MNHQ blame the OP for the direction a thread takes; rather that in some people's heads it would be "ooh Horry's thread turned into a dreadful bunfight" because a thread is kind of necessarily associated with its OP.

But as any fule kno it's impossible for an OP to order or control the content of her thread ah if only as innocent threads can turn into filthfests (rinse your minge) and goady/troll threads can be derailed into beautiful classics (Yoni massage).

I agree Rowan, very unfair.

Yet difficult as it is about decisions made by individuals.

Not sure how they can be reconciled.

I'm not. I'm milling around, shamelessly delighted to see the posters here. It's making me very happy. I realise that you are all quite serious. I, however, have wandered in from a completely different story, and am trying to ply you all with mulled wine and - slightly alarming - mince pies.

It Rowan, in fairness you are not a homogenous bunch of robots and occasionally you do read something by an HQer and think, hold on a minute there that's a bit out of order.

That's why I commented on how the tone of an HQers post came across. No malice or attacks, and I'm sorry if it caused offence, but that's how I read the post.

AmyMNHQ has had the great misfortune to be the HQer who has had to deal with Zombie on a couple of issues via contactus. Zombie has found her to be highly professional. Zombie was over-ruled but graciously accepted that as it was clear to her that AmyMNHQ had done a proper investigation before coming to her decision.

And there we have a quote that summons a picture-and-a-half. I imagine Rowan typing away furiously, and then regretfully, professionally, hitting the delete and typing something completely different - far more slowly, and with a hint of sadness.

Obviously not on this thread. But I bet you do it sometimes.

In Shakespeare, there might be a comic nose-pulling episode, what do you think? Someone says something a little close to the edge of appropriate, and a character loses their decorum and resorts to nose-pulling. That would be surprising. Especially on the internet. Actually, that would be more like a comic version of "The Ring", or something ...

I am awesome at my job but still sometimes make the wrong call. Everyone does.

Is that Miranda in the sense of clownish woman falling over a lot, or Miranda in the sence of polic officers/moderators reading us our rights, or Miranda in the sense of bloke who had legitimately possessed electronic communications taken away from him at airport? All three could be brought to bear here I think.
