Has there ever been - or is there the possibility that you could have - a group PM facility on our wondrous world-class MN site? (blatant flattery)
It was an idea that came to me whilst watching the film 2012 - the Russian pilot (who is secretly bonking the oligarch's fluffy blonde girlfriend) has just succeeded in lifting the nose of his airliner over the crumbling masonry to safety (well, for a bit anyway) when all of a sudden it made me think how great it would be if you could:

have a easily-maintainable friend group (not visible to anyone else of course) - names could be added or deleted at will

a group message facility so that you could pass on a bit of news; tell them all that you're OK if you were off the boards; inform them of a namechange due to unforeseen circumstances, for instance.
This has probably been mooted a thousand times. I am a bit behind on this sort of thing, you know. I have only just worked out how to program the video machine and the bastard's obsolete now.
