Can you get into trouble for reporting too much?

Recently there has been an onslaught of arseholes goaders and obviously the best thing to do is not rise to it as it bumps the thread/ fuels the fire and also not to call them out as they could be a genuine person who needs help. So my question is, can you get into trouble for being 'report' happy? I'm only asking as the last forum I was on years ago would penalise people if they were thought to be reporting too much. I have reported 3 posts in the past 24 hours (inc. Kerrang twat and goady M&S trouser woman) which I felt were justified, but getting the e-mail in my inbox from MNHQ that looks so official with its incident number is so off-putting! I'm not a busy-body, honest, I just want the website to be the best it can be, especially in light of the AF incident. Cheers!

I agree creepy, I sometimes want to report but then I think them at MN Towers will roll their eyes and thing 'Shit, not her again'.
I reported the Prince George one last night though, but it was still there when I went to bed.
I sometimes wonder what's the point.

tweetytwat · 02/11/2013 10:46

I report fairly often. Not been bollocked yetGrin
I sometimes report good threads too, just to say you must read this it's hilarious

TheLateKateSMumsnet · 02/11/2013 11:09

WE LOVE REPORTS! CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE BUGGERS!

We love reports about personal attacks
We love reports about troll hunting
We love reports that say "I don't like the look of this person"
We love reports that say "This thread is a bit weird"
We love reports that say "This is funny put it in classics!"
We love reports about stuff going wrong on site
We love reports about stuff going well on site
We love reports telling us when we've messed up
We love reports telling us how good our hair looks today

Sometimes it might take a while for us to respond (such as with the Prince George one, which is gone now), but we value every report we receive. Honestly. The bottom line is, if stuff isn't reported, we don't know about it And if we don't know about it, we can't do anything.

Don't worry about annoying us, or even annoying people on the thread - all reporting does is give us a heads up on situation, so we can take the appropriate action.

Your hair looks brilliant!

(Hope it's ok to say that openly, not as a report)

Definitely ok. MNHQ actively encourage this sort of thing Wink

Thank feck that reporting too much isn't a 'thing' or I'd have been booted off ages ago.

ReluctantBeing · 02/11/2013 12:37

Oh that's reassuring. I worry that I report too much.

BOF · 02/11/2013 12:44

I'm not convinced they like my reports when the come in full dossier format, with links, historical references, and a full list of troll username conventions and tropes...I think their hearts sink Grin

Still, I shall pepper them with creative compliments and see if that cheers them up Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/11/2013 20:38

Grin since the goadyfucker palaver I have been somewhat report-happy, glad to see I'm not gonna be getting banned for it.
I suspect my "funny" comments are more irritating than the reports themselves though...

Fairenuff · 03/11/2013 11:47

How long does it usually take to respond to a report?

MadameDefarge · 03/11/2013 11:55

anyone else read Kates list in a Gilbert and Sullivan song way?

Beccagain · 04/11/2013 07:36

What happens if you report and then regret it?

NorthernLurker · 05/11/2013 16:12

I would suggest if you report something and then think actually no it's fine then just report the same post again saying you've chnaged your mind. That said though HQ make up their own minds and if they think something is not dodgy they'll reply to you saying so. Then you sit and wait for them to be proved wrong Grin

We LOVE your reports, BOF. Cake? Our hearts sink when no one reports anything Sad

Icepilot · 05/11/2013 22:31

Oh I wondered this too... I've been way to reporty recently. Realised it was time to step away from the keyboard for a bit!

MadameDefarge · 05/11/2013 22:34

What ever happened to the have a fight on one thread and perhaps agree on another? I have experienced this this week. And am a bit cross at it. I do think this needs to emphasised. If I thought I was going to be ignored/goaded etc on any other not related thread...maybe I would think again. But it has hurt. I had a bit of a bunfight the other day, and it has become clear to me that I am non persona grata on many other threads. This is so not in the spirit of MN that I know. What should I do?

I agree Maryz it doesn't seem consistent at all. And some posts are gone within minutes whereas others hang around for days.

SunshineSuperNova · 06/11/2013 18:01

I have seen my first proper troll for ages today (not goady fucker / PA). It was like spotting a rare beast...
