How many times do you post a www.... and intend for it to not be hyperlinked?

I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want it to be clickable.

Ive just posted the same links 3 times and every time I have forgotten to check the make links clickable button. In fact that option isn't even available on the op (mobile site).

Please can we have links set to clickable as default. Orat least have the option of setting it like that in the custom settings....

I can't believe I'm the only person that would find this helpful....

Hi there

Thanks for the suggestion - we'll take a look.

In the meantime, putting double square brackets around any www. link will make it clickable - eg www.mumsnet.com (without spaces).

fuckingscabies · 06/06/2013 19:24

You aren't. Not quite sure why it isn't automatic. It's so basic.

Royalmailer · 06/06/2013 19:33

I agree

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/06/2013 19:39

I agree! And have asked this before and was ignored. There is absolutely no reason why it would be a bad thing, and square brackets are a pig to use on any sort of mobile device (which I bet is what most people use)

EdwiniasRevenge · 06/06/2013 19:42

Thanks rowan.

Double square brackets are a bit of a pain on my mobile, so I usually use the checkbox at the bottom...but if I forget to click it then I look like a lazy fool.

I think with increasing number of mobile posters there are an increasing number of people posting urls and saying 'but I can't link'. In part this is probably because there is no option on an op.

I also think there are enough people that are annoyed by the fact that people don't make there links clickable.

Having it automatic

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about the fact there is no box to tick when you start a thread.

HelenMumsnet · 07/06/2013 13:24

Thanks. We'll look into this.

Here are some examples from previous BB (see the UK ones only), but thinking of reality TV in general. Seen some really nasty bullying behaviour by Dennis Wise on I'm a Celebrity, for example, which was briefly noted and then forgotten. Females who have come across as aggressive or bullies are slaughtered by the media and the public. There always seems to be a heightened reaction.
