At the top bar where it says Talk, Pregnancy, Baby, Child etc?

If my cursor goes on one I can't very easily get rid of the big drop down menus that pop upConfused

Yes, they're driving me round the twist too.

lucjam · 04/06/2013 22:32

another parenting site did this type of thing and its gone totally downhill, was once a really busy hub, now you are lucky to see one or two new forum posts a day, take heed MN Towers!

KikkiK · 04/06/2013 22:44

I like the thinking behind having the drop downs. But I don't think much of the images used on the Life and Style and Work ones. I get that you are going for a light-hearted/ quirky look, but seriously, a woman shaving?! Can they not be replaced with images that don't make the women look ridiculous? Maybe it is just me taking things too seriously. Would be interested to hear what others think.

MrsBertMacklin · 04/06/2013 22:56

The pregnant woman in the grey vest top is doing my head in, MN. I quite like the content of the drop-downs, but can you make them so you have to click into the main headings and the drop downs only appear then? Or just make them less sensitive, like The Independent website.

MrsBertMacklin · 04/06/2013 22:57

That was terribly phrased. On The Independent, you actually have to hover, rather than just roll your cursor over, the headings, to make the sub headings drop down. This is fine, do that please!

Aniseeda · 04/06/2013 23:06

I am trying to get myself into the habit of moving my mouse really fast, like speed of light fast whenever I go within a mile of the headings, it's becoming a little competition to see if I can avoid one popping up on me!

The life and style one is especially horrible as it takes up almost the whole page so I have to move my cursor right down to the bottom to get rid of it. I am refusing to look at the pictures.

I like mumsnet but, if these things had been there when I first looked round the site, I might well not have stayed very long.

Hello,

Please bear with us. All progress has teething trouble and we're working on this, we promise. Brew?

Agree at how tedious the images are. Cliched, "quirky", crap

JulieMumsnet · 04/06/2013 23:24

@Maryz

Poor Julie, have they shoved you in front of the firing squad again?

Have some Gin

I think MrsBert has the right idea. A less sensitive hover would be good.

No, not at all. It needs a little tweak with a hammer , that'll sort it out. Wink

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 05/06/2013 08:55

OH MY GOD IT'S SO ANNOYING

RowanMumsnet · 05/06/2013 08:57

Hello hello

Just to say, we are looking into making the drop-downs click-activated so that they're not so jumpy.

QuinionsRainbow · 05/06/2013 08:57

AS they say - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Or if you must, PLEASE tell us in advance so we don't try to fix it ourselves!

Pascha · 05/06/2013 08:58

Yes. Click activated is a much better idea.

SoupDragon · 05/06/2013 08:59

Oh pleeeeease go for click activated! Yes!

mistlethrush · 05/06/2013 08:59

"Hello hello

More like they used to be then? Yes, that would be much better!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 05/06/2013 09:05

thank goodness!

RoooneyMara · 05/06/2013 09:08

They are like having beaded curtains in every doorway.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 05/06/2013 09:11

And is there now a signal if the Inbox has a new message.
Please?

Queen0fFeckingEverything · 05/06/2013 09:25

They keep dropping down when I haven't even hovered over them Hmm

That is quite annoying.

LottieJenkins · 05/06/2013 09:55

RowanMumsnet · 05/06/2013 10:28
