At the top bar where it says Talk, Pregnancy, Baby, Child etc?

If my cursor goes on one I can't very easily get rid of the big drop down menus that pop upConfused

We're all a bit long in the tooth for teething problems. Is there a denture version of MN, a nice safe unchanging one, like a pair of comfy slippers?

suckmabigtoe · 03/06/2013 09:40

yes i have the blue line down from pregnancy too ( was worried it was a 'sign' Grin)

i also cant bookmark?

Trills · 03/06/2013 09:49

Yes, me, they drop down just because I am moving my mouse pointer from the URL bar to the "type your response here" box, and then they don't go away.

yes. It is driving me up the bloody wall.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 03/06/2013 11:01

yup, they're definitely a bit trigger-happy.

alienbanana · 03/06/2013 11:03

I think they're much better than before - it's easier to navigate and things that were buried before are much more visible.

SoupDragon · 03/06/2013 11:14

They seem to have fixed the fact that they wouldn't go away but I really object to things that just pop up when you accidentally hover on them.

If I want to use a link I click on it.

MmeLindor · 03/06/2013 11:30

I love the idea, that you can click on the stuff that interests you and get a link to the relevant talk thread, and I am sure that once they work the kinks out, it will be excellent.

I also hugely enjoy MN on days when they have CHANGED SOMETHING cause there is lots of STOP CHANGING THINGS and wails of I WANT THE OLD MUMSNET BACK

[distributes virtual chocolate brownies to calm everyone down]

SoupDragon · 03/06/2013 11:50

I love the idea, that you can click on the stuff that interests you and get a link to the relevant talk thread

But do you love the idea of accidentally hovering over stuff that doesn't interest you and getting links to the irrelevant talk topics?

I too love the "I don't like change!" wails. Change doesn't bother me unless it is irritating and affects functionality.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 03/06/2013 11:51

all i'm trying to do is click 'threads i'm on' and that's close enough to make the stoopid box appear...

But if you flick to the side, the drop boxes go down.

I like that the talk area is being linked more clearly with the editorial stuff.

nenevomito · 03/06/2013 12:03

Yes Mme, but its annoying having to scroll down before they disappear if you're working in a small screen as you're at work and you can't have it on massive as you'll get caught Grin Blush.

I'd be happy if the log in / inbox link could be below the massive bar of drop-down so I wouldn't have to wave my mouse over it to get there.

RebeccaMumsnet · 03/06/2013 12:09

Hi all,

Bookmarks are now back and apols for the disappearance of My Mumsnet - you can get into here for the time being.

SoupDragon · 03/06/2013 12:25

But MmeLindor, there is no benefit from having them pop up when you hover and no irritating downside if you have to click.

Having the menus: Great.
Having them pop up when you hover rather than click: bloody irritating.

Or they need to be right at the top, above the advert where they are far less likely to be hovered over.

Jux · 03/06/2013 13:02

Do they have to be so BIG? If it were just a list that would be fine. But do I really need a picture too? No. I do not.

Jux · 03/06/2013 13:07

Maybe, now you've got categories sorted like this, you could do similar for the search? Pretty please?

Scrolling through yards of Locals is driving me nuts when I want to just search Style&Beauty for instance.

Could I also then tick a whole category in search, like Food, rather than x and y and z and uncletomcobbleyandall in Food?

'Twould be awful nice....

It needs a delay on the hover I think - menus that popup on hover are fine, but it needs to actually be on hover, not just on mouseover so that it's not so easy to do by accident while moving your cursor around the page. Currently I'm getting the popup every time I switch between browser tabs because I click the tab at the top of my screen to give it focus, then move the cursor down so I can scroll and mouseover the menu in the process. Very annoying.

Lomaamina · 03/06/2013 16:21

Me too! The drop-downs disappear all right, but they're so massive that you have to scoot your mouse a long way away before they do so.

Damned annoying?

Why not leave things as they are? hmm??

Fiderer · 03/06/2013 16:48

Grin at Maryz wanting to thump the education boy.

I'm just glad the Spaghetti Dog has gone. He freaked me out this morning.

The drop-downs are so big and insistent and are so fast - even if they now disappear faster. And why the pictures?

Now that Spaghetti Dog has gone I'm hoping Bunches Review goes soon as well.

secretscwirrels · 03/06/2013 16:51

They are horrible. Migraine inducing. Please make them go away.
