There is a logic to renaming AIBU.

It's easier to get an effective response to something that's asked in a positive fashion.

Take behaviour management. You're more likely to get an effective outcome from "please be quiey" than from "stop shouting" or do say the books.

So let's remame it AIBR?

And everyone will be positive and nice.

Here endeth the wisdom of ChasTheDiplomat.

Oh, yeah, I know it doesn't toll off the tongue quite so pleasantly, but them's the breaks for a harmonious MN. Ok?

How about calling it "Could you constructively assess my stance on this issue with charity, compassion, humanity, and an awareness of your own shortcomings as well as mine" (CYCAMYOTIWCCHAAAOYOSAWAM)?

Beehatch · 26/02/2013 10:40

Like Floaty's idea. MN might well implode with the enforced stricture of compassion though!

Portofino · 26/02/2013 10:41

How about "Please agree that I am right or fuck off, because I am" PATIAROFOBIA

FloatyBeatie · 26/02/2013 10:46

Very snappy acronym, that one, Porto. The "phobia"-like final syllables make it sound like a word meaning "Fear of people who say what they think of you when you ask them to say what they think of you" -- which is a condition that lots of AIBU OPs suffer from.

Tee2072 · 26/02/2013 10:50

PAWMBIAAR

Please Agree With Me As I Am Always Right

That's more how the threads usually go.

EdwiniasRevenge · 26/02/2013 10:54

This is just a place where I can argue I am right

AHAYWEH

(Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 26/02/2013 10:58

IWAR is fab

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 26/02/2013 10:59

I took a look at Gransnet the other day. They are very scary, but more importantly, they only have like 20 topics!

So much neater over there.

Even if they are scary.

OnlyWantsOne · 26/02/2013 11:03

Hahaha Marz. It would be must easier to navigate.

Could we have a seperate LTB section too?

Im right. Your wrong. IRYR

I guess the problem with that is that it doesn't invite discussion...which on the face of it sounds very appealing....but do we really want a board of unanswered threads...

Tee2072 · 26/02/2013 11:14

You have to be old and cranky, Maryz.

They really did scare me...

TheSurgeonsMate · 26/02/2013 11:16

I have often wondered about the genesis of AIBU. Im my kindly imagination, a person feeling over-adrenalised and a bt fraught comes on to ask AIBU? It turns out SIBU. And that's a good thing because it shows her that the world isn't out to get her, she just over-reacted.

So for nice threads only, topic ought to be as "Have I Become Over-Excited?" HIBOE. Of course if answer is No, YHNBOE then assertiveness tips can be offered to help OP calm down and see justice done.

I don't mind what we call it so long as we can still argue with people and call an arse an arse.

EdwiniasRevenge · 26/02/2013 11:31

In that case how about

I want a bunfight

Iwab

I didn't see that Maryz. you don't expect me to actually read threads properly do you? I spend long enough on here as it is.

But yes, I like the sound of IWAB. Especially this week. I am in the mood to rip heads off.
