What is up with the pound key it's driving me mad when people put £50 or whatever and it doesn't show up as that

Is it me?

I can see it fine.

Iceaddict · 29/12/2012 18:47

I get £ instead of the symbol for pound. Only on the app. The desktop site is fine

Fairyloo · 29/12/2012 18:47

DarrenMumsnet · 31/12/2012 09:15

My previous post looks OK on the desktop site but shows a variety of &pound combinations on the iPhone app. Thanks for raising this, I'll add it to the list.

RemindMeWhatSleepIs · 31/12/2012 09:45

Also I noticed someone wrote a name on here with a hyphen over it and it did the same thing. Not sure what I was as I didn't look on desktop site. Thread was entitled. "What's your name?"

Gumnast2014 · 31/08/2014 10:55

This is still a problem on the app

2yrs later

HighwayDragon · 31/08/2014 12:35

£6

HighwayDragon · 31/08/2014 12:36

what is with the capital a with the hat?!

McBear · 31/08/2014 12:40

This is the case for a lot of symbols. I think speech marks etc have it. Some posts are unreadable.

AmyMumsnet · 31/08/2014 16:24

Hi everyone,

Sorry about that! Don't know where the A came from, but we'll see if Tech do.

Tech · 02/09/2014 01:20

The capital A with a hat is caused when our server mis-interprets what your browser sends. From Wikipedia....

For example, the pound sign "£" will appear as "£" if it was encoded by the sender as UTF-8 but interpreted by the recipient as CP1252 or ISO 8859-1. If iterated, this can lead to "£", "£", etc.
