Yy, we know it's been a long time coming but we finally have the free to download Mumsnet Talk Android app

If you want to find out more about getting MN on your mobile device, we have a plethora of info for you here including some very exciting news about the soon-to-be-released all being well shiny new Apple app.

And we even have an easy to scan and download QR code to get the mobile version on your phone - what more could you want?

I have used it for a day or so now, I like the emotions, so easy, my typing window is actually quite large, it is a lot easier to get to threads I'm on than the mobile site.

I don't like that you can't highlight your posts or the op, you can't preview new posts on the thread on the threads I'm on screen, it doesn't rotate, on my phone if I want to add new words the quickest way is to turn my phone sideways to get my qwerty keyboard, it doesn't on the app.

It's quite average for me.

Plus I was reading down not up on replys if that makes sense. the flip thing didn't change anything.

I'm sure if I used it for a while I would get used to it, but I prefer the mobile site.

really don't like the fact that less than half the screen is free when scrolling down active convos. get rid of the logos

also why can't i see what im typing right now? can only see something saying write your message here, then a line odd emotions. impossible to see what im typing

Really annoying that the topic at the top isn't clickable; I often go via Active Conversations to (say) a thread in Adult Fiction, then want to click on Adult Fiction and see what other threads there are in that topic. It's fine on the mobile site but impossible on the app.

Just installed the app. Looks ok so far.
Will keep playing and see how I get on

Downloaded it onto my phone last night and I can view but not post anything, but it keeps crashing my phone

I got a new android phone the other day - I have to say that so far the android one works better than the iphone one

I quite like it. Mobile site drives me mad, I'm forever accidentally clicking top, bottom or report.

I don't like the upside down threads though.

Out's ok for reading on but I can't cope with not bfing able to see what I'm typing.

Only just got my first ever smart phone so still unsure about apps...but...

Whats all this about OP posts being highlighted? I've never seen this on the desktop or mobile site. Do you have to switch it on?

my threads I'm watching are all over the place, in very random order.

I'd like to see the first line of posts in threads I'm on, so I can see if they have been posted on.

my threads are scroll down again now, I went to settings and changed it, then changed it back and it worked. I can also see what I'm typing so no problems there.

strikethrough doesn't display properly, apparently when multiple words are crossed out, regardless of where the double hyphen was put.

Which is a shitter for me because I fancy myself as a wit and over use them frequently.

in general i like it. just switched from an iphone to android & id say this is better than the iphone app.

frustrations - it keeps refreshing when im viewing active convos & losing my place.

feels like there should be something at the bottom of the conversation like 'return to top' or something.

apart from that so far so good...

Glad to see an Android app at last, though will have to experiment with different phones. Tried on one of my Samsungs and could not see when typing, so whether logging in or just adding a message I'd not feel that happy being unable to see anything.

If it was able to work landscape (perhaps as an option) that might help (as windows where fields are might be scrollable so one could view the text input box(es)

Really thiknk you need to split the thread as it must be awkward trying to collect comments about any problems when the posts switch from iPad to Android and back again (and confusing for posters if you see something reported as not working, but it's a problem for some other system and actually isn't a problem on your app/platform).

Would appreciate bookmarks and highlighting.

Also, see that you've a 'response' against each post - (currently allowing report post and send private message) - why not add bookmark and 'add post' to the list so half way down a thread someone can respond. Would love it to say 'quote' and so forth, but doubt you're ready for a brand new MN discussion board :)

Good start - let's hope you keep improving both Android and Apple apps - was a bit of a wait for the one for Android IMHO - so Thanks to those who pushed it and tested versions.

Gah - thought I was posting on 'Appy days' about Android iPhonar and iPad as that was one I looked at on the App :)
