Would it be possible for MN to stop, for a 2 minute "silence"

haththefecklessbreeder · 08/07/2012 08:55

At a specific time, every year, to remember all the babies and children of MNetters who have sadly died?

Or maybe do something else?

What does anyone else think?

What a lovely idea.

serotoninbutterfly · 08/07/2012 08:58

That would be a lovely thing

StealthPolarBear · 08/07/2012 08:59

Agree

haththefecklessbreeder · 08/07/2012 09:20

So a "silence"?

With maybe the "offline" message saying what? In remembrance of all the young lives lost too soon? Or what?

Or does anyone else have any other ideas?

Lovely idea.

TodaysAGoodDay · 08/07/2012 09:22

That sounds wonderful hath. I agree, not the normal Offline message, something special.

poachedeggs · 08/07/2012 09:23

Yes, very much agree with this .

Hello Hath

We saw your post on the other thread and will have a chat about all of this when we're all back at the Towers.
Thanks

Vote here for the candle smiley please.
Due to the worldwide membership of MN the 2 minutes silence may lose significance?
It's been amazing seeing where all the prayers are from

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 08/07/2012 10:32

Candle a great idea

I think candle is better than silence. The last few weeks have shown just how much support Mumsnet can offer to those in need. I feel it would be a bit ironic if what came out of that was it being "closed down" for a period each year, however briefly.

Mechavivzilla · 08/07/2012 13:15

I agree with AmINearlyThereYet, perhaps a candle on the banner for a week a year as a memorial week?

Mumsnet is a valuable resource and I am sure no one who has suffered a loss and benefited from the support here would want it withdrawn in their name. And a candle banner would reach more people than being offline for 2 minutes.

Out of interest, am I allowed to ask what happened to the other thread? I m sure I commented in it but it seems to have dissapeared?

Hopeforever · 08/07/2012 13:28

Was thinking about this in church today and was feeling that even 2 minutes delay in getting help andsupport on MN may be too long for someone, so am glad to come back and find that AmINearlyThereYet had already said what I was thinking.
A day set aside with a special logo as MN as so good at doing would be better then more people would see it and stop when it is possible for them to do so

RabidAnchovy · 08/07/2012 13:31

Lovely idea OP

NoComet · 08/07/2012 13:39

Yes a day when we could remember the babies and children we have never met, but who stories and parents bravery have touched our hearts.

GColdtimer · 08/07/2012 14:29

Lovely idea. I like the candle day or something similar. A two minute silence could easily get lost.

GColdtimer · 08/07/2012 14:30

So sorry for your loss Hath. My thoughts these last few days have been with expat and all the mners who have lost their precious children.

Indith · 08/07/2012 14:33

I like the idea of a day with a logo for all those who have lost children. A silence would have little meaning since nobody actually spends the entire day on here posting so unless you happened to try to log in during those specific 2 mins you wouldn't see anything.
