Can we change the radfem section to...

Is it just me, or was I just oppressed?' - a Fem AIBU

Last I saw, the Radfem board was generally unwanted, I know I don't want it... What do we all think? Can we discuss it as a purely technical question, not because I don't think the other discussions which keep going poof aren't important, but because (a) they aren't the question here and (b) they keep going poof without us resolving the radfem area...

Lol - a feminist AIBU - would that be the title?

That's just asking for fights if it is IMHO, but I am just one poster!

Alameda · 03/07/2012 15:28

can't it be about wanking?

Alameda · 03/07/2012 15:30

or weight lifting?

Alameda · 03/07/2012 15:31

(I am turning into a man)

ThePan · 03/07/2012 15:35

change it to "Alien pig -farming - activism".

It seemed to land out of nowhere, is rather unwanted and is just hanging round like a bad smell. MNHQ have to allow some time to pass.......before doing it in.

Sparklyboots · 03/07/2012 15:41

The title would be "Is it just me? Or was I just oppressed?'. It might act as a sort of beacon for the trolls, but it would be ace to just go and steam off about how utterly irritating it is, for example, that I have to consider childcare when making arrangements but my partner doesn't, and all the fems would come and say, "Lady! You are Being Oppressed!" and all the misandry focused ones would say "Don't blame your personal relationship problems on Men In General. Stand up for yourself!". There would a bit of a bunfight license, and we could be properly purged for PARDyness on the rest of the boards.

DISCLAIMER, the example was abstract and I don't want to talk about it here.

Wanking + weight-lifting = man. Hmm.

Is this where 'snatch, jerk and clean'in weightlifing comps. come from? Interesting Olympics coming up...Smile

SarkyWench · 03/07/2012 15:42

I disagree.

I think we need the following new sections:

Radical Parenting
Radical Breastfeeding
Radical Gardening

and maybe some more?

Mmmmmmmmmm · 03/07/2012 15:43

Ah sorry I get it now.

Sparklyboots · 03/07/2012 15:51

Sarky, how about Radical Utopia as a way of encompassing all those concerns?

OP posts:
SarkyWench · 03/07/2012 15:54

No.
We have to allow people the space to be radical in their own distinctive ways.
We wouldn't want the radical breastfeeders to feel that they were obliged to take up topiary.

I see your point, Sarky, though hadn't really understood that topiary would be a concern of radical gardeners. Thought it would be more of a liberal thing. Just saying.

OP posts:
SarkyWench · 03/07/2012 16:24

oh shit.
we need two boards for each - for the two extremes on each continuum.
Or there will be bloodshed.
If those topiary people are expected to share with the ecosystem-in-my-backyard people...

MildewMayhew · 03/07/2012 19:22

"Radical breastfeeders"

Grin

I second a "radical breastfeeders".

HelenMumsnet · 04/07/2012 11:32

Ha ha at radical gardening/breastfeeding.

But, seriously, we think it's best we see first how the new topics in Feminism go before we tinker about with anything else.

As ever, though, we're happy to change/get rid of/add stuff when it seems that's what most folks want.

tethersend · 04/07/2012 11:42

AIBO

Am I Being Oppressed?

TunipTheVegemal · 04/07/2012 11:51

Can I just say that anyone who thinks there can be a radical topiary doesn't understand the word 'radical', as it comes from the Latin word for 'root'? The only true radical gardeners are the ones who grow potatoes and carrots.

However us radical gardeners would be happy to ally with the topiarists as long as they confine their topiary to large round bushes representing breasts, nothing phallic.

OatyBeatie · 04/07/2012 12:00

Well, I suppos ebonsai-ists are practitioners of radical topiary, since you have to trim the roots of little trees to restrict the growth above soil. So there is scope in the radical gardening topic for arboratorial radical topiary.

On second thoughts, though, that should probably be a separate topic. You know what arboratorial radical topiarists can be like.

HelenMumsnet · 04/07/2012 13:28

ROAR at arboratorial radical topiary...

Sparklyboots · 04/07/2012 22:08

YY AIBO, oh, it would be so excellent. And less technical than the requests for topiary-based divisions.

OP posts:
tethersend · 04/07/2012 23:25

YABO.

ThePan · 04/07/2012 23:49

yes, tethers, you ARE being oppressed, and about time too, imo.Grin

tethersend · 04/07/2012 23:53

Fair point.
