So I am assuming tge new desktop button means I don't have to go to tge bottom of tge page to get out of mobile and into regular mn? If so its not working, I have hidden a thread by accident and can't get onto mymumsnet to unhide it.

Hi HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans

You don't have to go to MyMumsnet but you do need the desktop site.
What device are you using?

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 08/05/2012 10:51

Hi Rebecca, it's an iPhone, have managed now. Basically the desktop always is working but the desktop This time doesnt do anything.

Can we get manage hidden onto the mobile active? I know it's quite full already. You can tell I've only been using mobile since it started cause I didn't know about managing hidden from active convos Grin

Will certainly look into it for you and see what can be done.

I have the same on iphone. Actually if I type the website address from scratch using www. instead of m. it still takes me to the mobile site. I can't access the desktop site at all.

Tech · 08/05/2012 12:48

Hi Pascha, if you are on www.mumsnet.com, but on a mobile, you get the mobile version. But at the top of the page, there's a link to "Desktop site." Click that and you should get the regular version.

There's a slight complication in that if you go to m.mumsnet.com you always get the mobile one even if you click Desktop. We'll be turning that off later this week so that there's only www.mumsnet.com and you can use buttons / links to switch between the versions.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks Tech. Clear as mud then Wink

Oooh I have this issue. I have an iphone, and I click the button to go to the desktop site and it takes me to. . . . Nowhere! It just reloads the mobile page Hmm

Tech · 10/05/2012 18:19

Hi, The "desktop site" button should work properly now, even if you are on the m.mumsnet.com site. Sorry for the aggravation.

TheCunnyFunt · 10/05/2012 18:29

Ahhh thanks Tech! You're a star! Like my new name?

TheCunnyFunt · 10/05/2012 18:30

Oh one more thing, why is it, that when I NC, my profile goes private and everything on it disappears?

Tech · 10/05/2012 18:40

Hi, the reason the profile doesn't automatically go with the name change is because name changes are (or used to be anyway) used for potentially sensitive or embarrassing revelations. You wouldn't want people to be able to click on nickname "ImRevealingSomethingShameful" and see that it is in fact someone they know posting under a pseudonym.

Though thinking about it, we should maybe have a "bring my profile" checkbox on that page where you change your name. It might make things easier for people. Hmm.

Thanks tech Grin

Ooh yes please Tech! I think all the regular name changers who do it because they feel like a new one would love you forever if you did that! That would be brilliant!
