MNHQ I have a question about posters' history

I have had a search of this but couldn't find anything so sorry if it's been discussed before and I've missed it.

What is your stance on a poster searching someone's posting history and bringing it up on another thread in an accusatory way or to attack that poster?

completely random and probably feeble e.g "Ah I see you say you bought a budgie and now you've gone and got a cat, that poor budgie I think that's disgusting and cruel"

Is it merely frowned upon, or if one finds it offensive what should one do?

TIA

In Lidl at Christmas they had butter with crunchy bits of Camargue salt in it.

It was positively orgasmic.

Sorry W0rmy Sad

If it's any consolation I had toast yesterday as well and I'm meant to be low carbingBlush

Those bastard carbs - why have they got to be in every food I love, why can't they be in beetroot or pears?

Ooh, beetroot and pears, yum

(though possibly not together! )

  • My DS got me on to the wonders of juicy pears when he declared them his favourite fruit ! New thread idea - What great things have your DCs introduced you to ? What do you think ?
nenevomito · 17/02/2012 10:21

Beetroot tastes like soil.

Just saying.

Beetroot tart with goat's cheese

Pear Tarte Tatin and Vanilla Ice-cream

Celery with cream cheese (especially Phili) down the groove

Turnip in a mixed mash with carrot and potato, and melting butter.

Sorted Grin

Puy lentils ? Try with grilled slices of polenta, like I had once in the French Alps Smile

Mon dieu! It was ironic French....

StealthPolarBear · 17/02/2012 12:03

French brandy or French red wine?

nenevomito · 17/02/2012 12:47

Red wine, with some pate on toast.

See, this is interesting - I was accused of bullying someone a while back because I pointed out something they'd said under a previous name - on the same subject, but a lot more blunt and hostile than what they were currently posting. It didn't need searching, I could remember it (owing to it being blunt and hostile!)

I did then search quickly to make sure I got the words right. I didn't want to mispresent her or put words in her mouth, I'd be cross if someone did that to me.

It was the usual bunfight about pain relief during birth/CS's etc. I felt the poster was being mealy mouthed given her previously expressed views, and pointed out that actually, she had made moral judgements about women asking for pain relief etc. Which she was denying on the current thread. I also mentioned her previous name - she has a bit of a pattern of getting into long debates which escalate, upset people, she gets more blunt and extreme as it goes on - then she sort of bails out and name changes, and it all starts again (progression from fairly polite to combative etc).

Now - no one's perfect, and I totally agree with whoever upthread has said that we can surely change our mind about things! and not be criticised for that. But this wasn't what was going on here. I didn't think it was unfair to mention her previous usernames, as she was posting on the same subject. I didn't think about the security issues - she never mentioned any, and hadn't exactly 'covered her tracks'.

I don't think that was bullying? Or 'stalking'? Whether it's le cricket or not, I have no idea..... I've namechanged several times on the forum, just out of habit - same reason I change passwords etc - but not to hide personal info, and I don't think I'd be distressed if anyone said 'didn't you used to be gloyw?' or something. I'm also aware this is a public forum, and realistically, if I don't want someone to know something, then I don't post it (and I have posted some pretty personal stuff on here).
