Bold text displaying miniaturised instead of emboldened.

I use the main site on my iPhone, and have recently noticed that sometimes text that I assume is meant to be in bold (eg when mentioning a poster by name) appears miniaturised instead.

Just something you might like to check out, in the pursuit of perfectionism (Grin)

Chaos mentioned something similar a couple of weeks back - I think her comment was that although the word was showing emboldened, it was somehow smaller.

Tech said they hadn't done anything new - I think.

I can see the bold but the words do look slightly smaller than they used to.

Yes, I know what you mean, but I think that has been the case for ages. The bold text is still completely legible, and fits the rest of the text.

Here is an example of what I'm seeing.

Look at EmsieRo's post of Wed 14-Dec-11 04:39:23 on your iPhone. How do you see the name "amuminscotland" in EmsieRo's post?

Oooops - sorry, it's just sunk in that you said iPhone - I'm using a computer. Blush

So what I'm seeing is amuminscotland's name as bold, but the font size seems to have shrunk a bit. (I emboldened 'Chaos', 'Tech' and 'bold' in my previous post)

Actually, of course, I'm not going to be any help to you - you need another iPhone user to come onto this thread.

Here's another thread about this, PrettyCandles, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1355142-Why-has-the-bold-gone-teeny-weeny.

It's not the thread I was originally thinking of, but ...

FruStefanLindman · 14/12/2011 11:17

And I've just found Chaos's thread about this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1355334-Can-someone-with-good-eyes-help-me-work-out-something-please

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 14/12/2011 12:07

Those threads refer to the fact that bold text is now a fontsize or so smaller than standard text. I'm talking about text appearing really small: in that example I linked, the l is the size of the standard comma. All the letters, including tall letters, are smaller than a short standard letters.

Hello. Just to clear up any confusion: we changed the size of the bold type a couple of weeks ago to make it fit in more smoothly with the regular type (before, it was much, much bigger).

So, it is smaller than it used to be but it's not smaller than everything else!

LauraIngallsWilder · 14/12/2011 16:50

Using an iPod there are often words/sentances that appear teeny weeny. I don't know if it's my iPod or MN though!

FruStefanLindman · 14/12/2011 18:21

Yes, sorry, PrettyC. I was just trying to link you to the other two threads on the same subject, even though I was aware you're using an iPhone and some others might not be. Blush

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 14/12/2011 19:58

Helen - it is! Have a look on the main website on an iPhone.

FruStefan, sorry, I didn't mean to sound sniffy. Thanks for linking.

I got told the same thing on my thread about this but it is smaller. either that or my eyes get bigger when they see bold print.
