Can we have a cull of the topics list?

Discussed this on the AIBU thread in site stuff.

People get pissed off witg the fact that some topics are too quiet and so people post stuff in aibu when it shouldn't be there. That may be because loads of people hide topics which do not interest them, so some topics get no traffic.

Do we really need to have so many topics. For instance, could there not be a Pets topic. Is there reallt any need to dogs, cats, hamsters, chickens, horses, FISH to have their own topic really?

There are too many sub-topics I think and it is a pain in the arse I think.

LOL still not old enough yet!

I did mean to put a Wink after my last post, but now that you have a cast a slur on my age...

hocuspontas · 27/10/2011 18:27

What's OTBT?

DumbledoresGore · 27/10/2011 18:30

Well, that's proof enough that there are too many topics when an established Mner does not recognise one when it is written in shorthand.

Thanks!
Never heard of it.

ShowOfHands · 27/10/2011 18:47

We need a MN Perennials for stuff that comes up time and again. That'll catch a lot of the misfiled stuff and I do think my Friday Night Topic has a place in the new and improved reduced topic MN. Boils and the like can go in it too. All the fetishistic nonsense.

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 18:48

No response from MNHQ when there are twelve thousands of MNers clamouring for change.

Pah.

PAH.

It's like the Liberal Democrats.

Oh god yes MN perennials.

You wouldn't start a topic in MN perennials, but the 86907th parking space thread will come up, we will all groan, and we can elect to move it there. It will be like an elephant's graveyard for threads.

I'd like the job of filing MN threads into their correct place. For the first time in my long and illustrious MN career, I'd be thoroughly anal.

I have started two threads in site stuff today - this one and one requesting that the bear emotiocn is banished.

Je suis un sad bastard.

But Maryz if you dedicate yourself to the filing who will lead the anti-like button campaign?

I am realising I spend more time in Site Stuff than I do on AIBU [saddo]

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 27/10/2011 19:06

Poor Getorf. Soon the meds will kick in and everything will be pink and floaty again

I agree FWIW.

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 19:09

Iam sick of the meds.

I want to get better so I can go back to work and stop thinking about the bear emoticon and MN topic lists. Grin

Gizza job mumsnet.

I will do it for free at the mo.

I fancy doing a bit of spreadsheeting and organsing.

Can we keep Flouncers Corner? (its still me, bibbity, must namechange back).

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 19:12

Why did you namechange?

Did you eff orf and come back?

Or are you just effed orf with summat?

Please don't suggest getting rid of sensitive topics like bereavement and miscarriage/pregnancy loss. They may not matter to you but they do to others. Lumping them all in together under support wouldn't be the same.

Green fields etc etc

No, its for today only. Got a slightly rl-identifying thread thingy going on (don't tell anyone).

Oh its really really nothing major! Just trying to keep a modicum of unsearchableness. Which I'm clearly not very good at!

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 19:29

Oh yes sorry sancerre - someone said that all existing support threads for sensitive topics should remain. Didn't mean to disregard those important topics.
